Yeah, it’s actually quite offensive.

It seems that we can drag ourselves out of mediocrity as a club, but that same mediocrity still hangs around us in everyone else's eyes.
How many other clubs have made a GF then a challenge cup final, have International level backs, and are constantly praised for our brand of RL. Debt-free and being marshaled incredibly well, but are constantly being written off?
The answer is none.
If we go one better and actually win something in the next year or two, we'll still be written down as relegation fodder. It's baffling and frustrating and that negativity can only have a detrimental effect on players and potential players. Hopefully it will motivate them.

Salford are a threat because they don't tick the 'credentials' that the big boys do and they can't stand that. We don't have 200,000 home fans every week or 20,000 youth products coming through every year but what we do bring is something different. But that's how all so called little clubs like us get looked upon so there's nothing we can do really just have to make sure we're doing things well on and off the pitch. Look at Warrington, once upon a time they were a bit like us. Not the biggest away support once upon a time and they weren't producing top rated talents every year but they grafted off field, got a decent owner to back them up and the fans started pouring in when they started winning trophies yet to this day they're still looked down upon. That being said I'm not a massive fan of Warrington but it shows that even if you have good support and a backer you're still not getting in that club.

I undestand your issues here everyone. One of the reasons we're lots of people's second favourite club and always underestimated is there's a lot of condescension about our efforts. Most of it is friendly or benign with the odd true nasty. I suppose until we win something or maybe even win something regularly this'll always be the case. I'm convinced they're wrong about this squad, a long way off the mark and I can't wait for the squad to prove that to everyone.

I think the best way to handle these rankings is to pin them up in the dressing room and show the players. If that doesn't motivate then I don't know what would. Saying that, we have assembled a really good looking team on paper, but at the minute that's all it is. We need to gel and start performing to the best of our ability to see what our true ranking should be.
It will be of more interest next year to see what our ranking is!
Another factor to take into account is the players selected by the Hull Daily Mail may not necessarily be the players selected by our coaching team.

You forget we SHOULD have changed to Manchester, SHOULD be attracting crowds equal to City or United, SHOULD have not reneged on a game, SHOULD have a major Academy/Reserve set-up and SHOULD be grateful for being allowed in Super League!

Think we should have an ACADEMY Good article around about the development of Newcastle, they're building from an academy base.

Think we should have an ACADEMY Good article around about the development of Newcastle, they're building from an academy base. the club have a development Academy run through the college, this seems to be the way that Blease and Co want to go and develop this further. it could lead to a part time academy but i think the investment in a full time Academy would not be outweighed by the number of players who actually make the grade.

All the top clubs have a strong academy Think Blease would like and academy but makes do with the lower level
