All types of antisocial rumours flying around we have done away with our Academy system and that Morley has followed Carvell out the door.
What future does the club have without a pathway? If there is a modicum of accuracy in this it is a terribly decision, though to be fair it wouldn't be Salford if we didn't take 2 steps forward and 1 backwards.

In the Q&A I did with MK during the season, he made it clear that investing in the Academy System was the most cost-effective way to produce players capable of playing in the first team. It would seem like a massive backwards step if we scrapped it, and extremely disappointing.

Can't see any sort of confirmation about the Academy so hopefully it is just a stupid rumour because for the life of me can't see any point in this on any level.

I looked on the shed and there it was, but was it any where else? If true time to pack the bags and walk, sorry to say this after the miraculous MPG but.............

It's doing the rounds on Twitter but don't see an official announcement.
I'll repeat what I said on the ST...
If true, it's a massive mistake.
The academy should have been a priority years ago, before MK came around. We'd be producing decent talent every year and it would be paying for itself. Instead, we never bothered. Impressive that we have managed to produce so many decent youngsters tbh. Imagine what we would be producing if we'd have got this right ten years ago?
MK should have sorted this as his first project instead of buying-in expensive bell-ends.
To scrap it now is madness, and leaves us off worse financially in the long run. You don't produce youngsters you don't get the SC discounts. Current operational rules say you need a percentage of home grown youngsters in your squad, and we'll be left buying-in expensive signings or forking-out for other clubs youngsters.
Makes no sense.

I can't find the blurb but isn't free access to Academy games part of the season ticket offer?
Hardly good marketing if it's a lie and even better when the club have relaunched the Junior Devil scheme, comes on kids aspire to be a Salford player but then don't offer them the way to make that happen.
All deeply troubling if true.

Mr koukash has tweeted that fans should wait and hear the full facts and future plans before we spread negativity. I suppose that's all we can do. The club needs to give us those facts and plans as soon as though because it does not appear a good news story at first glance.

It can only be for a short time, as it's a stipulation in the rules that you have to have a percentage of your squad made up of home developed youngsters. It means that we could still get by as it stands, but only in the short term. That may be the plan, to save money. It's a risky strategy that will make a financial difference but will only retard the club on the field in the long run.
Still not great.

On twitter someone asked Michael Carter how much academy costs, he said 220k for wakeys, when you look at the return on the investment it's not great. And as someone else has said, Hull fc/kr have recently merged acadamies, across the board something isn't right
Having said that, the only way we are going to organically and sustainably grow is with a prospering academy. Let's hope there is a long term plan

Wild idea following the Docs cryptic answer.
Is there anything in the clubs new love in with Sale? Some form of joint youth training facilities and scouting?
Purely a guess.
