I think this is the right way to go for Salford..............but on the other hand, Messers King, Blease and Co., might have put us on it already? www.bbc.com/sport/football/55146257

Sad reading Original Posters name. Vince Nestor. Remember him playing at Oldham maybe late 50s - early 60s - Alan Davies was there at the time so limited chances for Vince. Davies was a wonderful centre - different to Chris Hesketh - but amongst the best I have ever seen. Doesn`t time fly?

Think this is where Watson is a big loss. It was said he knew and assessed every player in SL NRL and Championship. Bit of a geek. However the coaching staff have increased, fresh eyes and of course we have Rowley helping Blease with pathways and finding players. But yes, good article, and as we know RL is a team sport. We've all played with really good players who don't put in the effort, think they're too good, just come for the money or don't gel...have a look at MU So it's finding the right picture for the jigsaw and then the right pieces to make that picture. Interesting times, it's never dull at Salford.

Seem to remember,he put his winger away in front of the shed, with a touch of class

In my memory, Vince Nestor did play for us for a short time Dixon, here are the names from memory of the backs playing for Salford when I first started going to the Willows around 65/66:
(David?)Evans - full back Paul Murphy winger- signed from Preston Grasshoppers Ike Southward - centre signed from Oldham Les Bettinson - centre signed from? Vince Nestor - centre signed from Oldham Geoff Sims - winger signed from , yes you guessed it, Oldham
Ernie Critchley - utility - signed from Halifax Trevor Rabbit - scrum half signed from? Jackie Brennen - scrum half - signed from Pies
Please feel free to amend

Other players Whitehead Burrell, McInnes Jackson The one and only Frank Collier ( his try in the corner against Wigan at Wigan when we beat them in the QF😤)

David Evans heritage no 635 first game August 1965 ... One of the bravest fullbacks ever Paul Murphy heritage no 600 first game May 1962 .... very quick sometimes lazy Les Bettinson heritage no 549 first game March 1957 .... classy center saw him score a hatrick at Barrow on a losing side Geoff Sims heritage no 642 first game August 1966 .... Excellent and reliable player Trevor Rabbit heritage no 585 first game March 1961 ...Under rated and probably the quiccest thinking SH Ernie Critchley heritage no 603 first game August 1962 .... Always reliable never let you down Jackie Brennan heritage no 570 first game August 1959... Classic scrum half (and my hero) who was more or less guaranteed to outplay his opposition, in an era with some fine halves like Hepworth, Bishop and Murphy
