Paul King doesn’t seem to want an academy, as there aren’t enough players to go around as it is and will be detrimental to local amateur clubs. I think he would prefer shared academies, so I don’t see that changing in the near future.
I don’t know enough about it, but his arguments seem logical

Not enough players, fewer academies, not enough supporters, schools don't have comps anymore. Is there a link? London seem to be bucking the trend then.

There are only 12 tier 1 academies allowed by the RFL. There are already 12 so we can’t start one until someone else drops out apparently. They cost a minimum of £150k-200k a year to do properly I’m told. There’s no doubt that our old academy was woefully managed in the Koukash era hence why we lost it and the RFL downgraded us. Most fingers seem to point at Martin Vickers.
Our development academy is doing ok for now but can’t churn out SL ready players every year like a tier 1 would/should. We haven’t hit the money in the short term to have a competitive first team, a 2nd team and a tier 1 academy.
I think their should be a regional approach rather than each club having one. But if we did start one I’d want to see it with salford, swinton, Rochdale and Oldham involved and working closely with all the amateur clubs in those areas plus the few in Trafford and Manchester.
There need to be pathways up for the best at the amateur clubs to find their level - a (very) few will kick onto SL, some can go into semi-pro and the others should stay engaged with the community clubs so they aren’t lost as players if they don’t get a contract at 18/19. Needs to be a way of keeping tabs on players who might be late developers

Agree with most of that RuB, and isn't the start in schools. Many moons ago the famed Don Preston produced the likes of Betts, Morley, Watson etc and schools rugby was flourishing as in Saints, Wigan, Widnes schools. Surely that's where the Foundation, Club needs to start in getting that going as well. Without that there will be a small pool and kids, except through families won't appreciate RL. Catch em young. Wonder how London do so well, we'll have to ask Sarginson, probably without Sky money. Seems a lot of chat but...

I would love to see Toulouse be given the nod. Good for a weekend in the sun and to indulge in the local food and drink. Good for French rugby to have a derby.
Unfortunately i believe Leigh will given the nod and out of all the English sides applying are IMO the least liked or respected.

They do still have scouts Dixon. I see them at some of the youth matches. But wigan, Warrington and Saints have more!!
The foundation do some work in schools and some good stuff. They’ve recruited some players who have joined local youth teams. But it’s not enough schools and not often enough. And there’s no consistent schools comps. All comes down to resources again.

That's the normal reason/ excuse RuB, 'resources'. Foundation have received big money for a number of years; don't think London do. Desire, effort, plan ?

I think more could be done and I think the foundation is a bit hit and miss but to do a much better job would mean taking money out of the first team and given how far beyond other clubs spending we already are that feels like a big risk to me

Interesting to hear the BBC Radio Manchester RL programme where Jack Dearden discussing With Jon Wilkin About who should Be the 12th team in the Superleague in 2021.Wilkin covered his Tracks by Saying Either York or Toulouse. It also brought all the Leigh fans out on Twitter informing everybody that they'll be more competitive than most teams in the SL And that they've a far bigger Away Support than the Current teams. Anybody else getting Deja Vu?? The all-round concensus is that they were the Worst team to ever play in it. Twice. Surely they won't be allowed a third opportunity.
