My Son was asked to design the New logo, he gave the club at least 6, the Club gave him the brief what they wanted and they picked the one they wanted, also the new Kit which I have seen, he also gave them a varied choice and I can say from retro to ultra modern, the board chose the one they wanted.

Impressive, hopefully the new kit will quell some peoples annoyance at the badge.

I'm quite liking the new badge. Also liking the reasons why as explained by the club.
To be honest, a new modern looking badge should have been done when Koukash arrived. Instead we got that weird devil head, then we got the Willow tree which was okay, but instantly forgettable. I think we're in the right ballpark with this effort. The sport is desperate to attract better sponsors and get younger people to get into the sport. Team sports are going down the American route with branding and logos and is something that RL needs to jump on now more than ever.
There seems to be a lot of RL fans that want very old-fashioned designs, and while fine for the likes of us, we're falling behind on the business side of sport so I welcome this and look forward to the new kit.

Branding is great Carnster but if you look at a lot of American sport, logos, branding etc, get slightly modified as time goes on with slight changes in typeface but a lot of it has been there for many years. In fact they envy our history and cherish tradition. If we keep changing our logo we don't have either in a branding. Good branding lasts, it's there to be recognised and has value. Ask any corporate brander. Anybody puts an M like Mcdonalds get a writ immediately. The only reason shirts are changed, at least annually is to make money.

The responses on here have been much more genuine, what I read on Facebook, about this and many other things is just crazy.

I like it! I saw a very similar one on the interwebs a while back, which I am assuming was one of your son's prototypes.
I also agree that a good brand should be preseverved... but you have to get the right one to begin with. This one is quite decent and could be around for a while.

Let’s be honest , the badge could be much better There is nothing to stop the badge being more traditional and the merchandise/promo gear being more modern.
That way you attract all age groups.
A friend always says why don't we have more with the traditional white S and he's correct that would entice us old codgers and offer something more 'hip' for the Yoofs.

Branding is not just about changing the badge from a willow tree to a devil. Needs to be defined established and carried forward over a period of to establish what the Clubs about.

To be honest I’m not massively keen on the new badge. And that probably shows it’s exactly what we need. If you design something that a excites blokes in their late 40s who have been regular attendees at home and away games for 30+ years then my guess is you won’t be appealing to the kids and others to expand the fan base.
What this one is, which we haven’t had before is that it is bold and simple. It’s easy to replicate, will work on lots of backgrounds, in different media and genuinely does represent the toughness of RL. I quite liked the tree but it didn’t really shout ‘tough, entertaining, physical’ like this one does
But to be honest I don’t really care what the badge is like. I remember people kicking off when we moved to salford Reds badge, then city reds, then the koukash face, then the tree. Remember when everyone whinged cos there was no devil? Then when they whinged because it didn’t say salford. Now it’s the wrong kind of devil. They got over it and, despite the pathetic rantings on Facebook and Twitter, they will again

Your son came across really well on the devil in the detail interview. I’d recommend everyone to listen to it. Makes it really clear what RFLs marketing intention is. Good stuff

You have to wonder how these people function in the real world.

It will not be everyone's cup of tea but you see the benefits and in the big scheme of things, a logo/badge shouldn't be causing the hissy-fits it is with grown-ass men.

Fails the ‘so what’ test. Not dismissing the amount of hard work and skill that went into this. Just can’t get excited about such issues
