Catalans and Toronto should have to share it. For me that was one of the stupidest things about super league. The rights to televise SL should be owned by SL whatever the country, everyone gets a share of the total rights sales as does the rest of the game. That’s how you get expansion to pay and how everyone benefits from expansion.
As for the rest. It was well documented that TWP were asking for a share of the TV money. There were lots of reports about clubs being against their entry and I was told by someone involved in the discussions well before the first vote the way it was likely to go. Make of that what you will

Sorry don't buy that RUTB. SBW was on a ludicrous wage which the new owner would have honoured, meaning the share of the SKY money would have been peanuts to what he was already shelling out. What was the current deal? IFRC it was £1,600000 which comes out at £1,33333. When you're paying an old war horse 6 figure deals that's just loose change.
Plus something that has always irked me, both Catalan and Toronto would have broadcasting deals in France/Canada, would they have split that with the other 10 teams?
The simple answer is NO.
The Current Skysports Deal Is only Legal in The UK & NI Plus the ROI 🇮🇪. SkySports Don't Broadcast in Canada or France (Unless you're a Naughty person with a Vpn) Which is a Terrible thing to even Contemplate !!. So there is no legal obligation to Share the €s Amongst the other SL Clubs Even though Catalan dont have any Broadcasting deal at the Moment.

I read York are looking at making a bid. A bit left field but why not have a go.

I struggle with the fairness of the tv deal. Understand all the points about Sky not transmitting to France or Canada, but those clubs are providing content for Sky when they play. The Catalans model was best, when they had a deal, but that dried up. The less said about the Toronto bid the better. Looks like the guy thought he had a far stronger hand than he did,but that’s history now. I’m not sure whether Bernard Gausch has been moaning about the tv rights.
Bottom line is that I don’t want the clubs voting teams in or out based on whether they take money out of the Sky pot. Don’t think that was the deciding factor in rejecting Toronto and I can’t see where the Ottawa project goes now.

It wasn’t what they desired but Catalans need to be on TV to maintain their profile in their heartland.

I think the suits have just undemind their own competition.Who ever comes in are up against it the only way they could make it fair is no relegation. You just could not make it up.

according to rumours on anti-social media (one idiot with a trusted but unnamed journo source) Salford and Wakefield voted that the incoming club would only get £800k next season but the other clubs voted for £1M. So expect more slagging off from the usual suspects/idiots on the less reputable RL forums
