It’s all over Twitter now. I saw it as a report from Ross heppenstall, not one for making stuff up
Unpaid debt from 2013. Says it will be applied as three 2020 wins deducted. More details to follow

From rugbyleaguehub.com
BY ROSS HEPPENSTALL
Exclusive: A Super League club has been hit with a six-point deduction from the RFL over a long-standing debt.
After failing to honour a financial committment agreed to seven years ago, Salford Red Devils have been docked six points – three 2020 Super League wins.
In January 2013, the Salford Football Club (1914) Limited entered into a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) and a new company, Salford City Reds (2013) Limited, was subsequently approved by the RFL Board.
A condition of being granted RFL membership was that the club fund the CVA of the old company and that, if the CVA fails, then “the new club would be deducted six points in the playing season in which the default occurs”.
The CVA has now failed, leading to Salford being docked six points which ends any outside hope they had of making the play-offs as a 'stand-by' side.
The three-win deduction takes immediate effect, but does not relate to Salford City Reds (2013) Limited or impact any of that company’s debtor or creditor relationships.
More to come.

Haven’t we already been punished once for this? On the face of it doesn’t seem fair

It is what it is,and if this was what was agreed at the time, then so be it. As we were only on standby it looks like they’ve actually done us a favour by clearing it out now

It feels like a kick in the teeth, but we ain’t going to win anything this year even if we end up as reserve team. Too many injuries, just too far to go. Best to take the rest, plan for next year and be grateful this didn’t happen any time it might have mattered. It changes nothing.
