The French have never been good at change, they got rid of the Ancien Regime so they could take turns at being reactionary.
If you're not sure about this just look at the history of French RL.
The headline should read in shock news French rush headlong into new arrangements and rules!

They've just announced more rules ,Don't No whether They've rushed into it. There's going to be a Curfew in Paris and eight other Citys between 21:00 & 6am Including Toulouse. but not Perpignan. Less time to smoke the Smelly cigarettes and Waffle endlessly about what Albert Camus actually meant when he asked A Toilet attendant for three extra pieces of Toilet paper !!

Toilet pape Yes ,But I've never uttered a Word of that Song ,Having a Headmaster who made the School Assembly sing it every morning for five years ,I have a lifelong dislike for it. A work colleague said to me earlier Regarding No fans at Wembley How good it'll be for the environment No pollution Very small use of toilet paper, So I'm going to make sure I throw a Whole packet of unused Aldi Recycled Bog roll straight in the bin during the match.

Why, what has the environment (or the French come to that) ever done to you?
Now headmasters that's perfectly understandable.

Do think the way we are heading we might end up with 2 different games.
The Southern hemisphere doesn't need us, the South Sea Islanders are now picking the country of birth/heritage over AUS/NZ and it's working wonders for the game.
Can see England not being legitimate 3rd seeds (AKA also rans) for the world Cup next year.
Do fear we'll end up as a stand alone game in Europe (and possibly North America) who acts as a feeder system for down under.

If it takes off in America, we and Oz will be feeder teams. The money we and Oz pay is loose change in their sports and competitive tv coverage.
Remember the basis of American football was Scottish rugby union. And compare the two games now.

That's not being ripped off that's cheap for Paris, you got a real bargain there, that place probably went out of business after that because of lack of profit.
The French are essentially the conserrvative party for human beings so the fact they're keeping scrums and hoping all these new fangled ideas will go away is not unexpected.

Do you not think we should keep scrums Russ? I'm still in two minds because of the defensive patterns scrums provide but they must be on the list of endangered species and largely useless anyway. A bit like the relationship between Boris Johnson & his trousers, really!
