Think I read on here Brown is contracted for next year. He needs to start leading the team now. While I appreciate Brown's experience and knowledge but I'm not convinced with his performances so far. A move into a coaching role and freeing-up space would be a decent result for us. There aren't many decent half-backs floating around to be signed, so our options are limited.

We dont need space freeing up we need more money in the bank account. to date we are nowhere near the salary cap so freeing up more space will do nothing, if he moves into a coaching role he will still need to be paid

I meant freeing-up space for another halfback to take the role. I didn't mention money.

An observation Interesting with our recruitment We used to have Academy lads coming thro but Bibby Evalds etc gone and nothing coming there now Then we had good Championship players, those below the radar in SL,and second string Oz boys, Hastings, Lussick etc Now. We've got ex internationals,,,,3 years ago our potential backline would have been all internationals.
Agree the less Oz boys the better, if we can get equivalent UK guys, but what bothers me is we have no Academy coming thro, trained to our standards early on, cheaper, settled ,played together
Think we really need to get this sorted. Because no matter how good the backline is, it's full of injuries and ageing. But can't wait til about game 5 next year and seeing it functioning. And of course Matty Costello there as well

I concur everyone's thoughts on the academy. The scrapping of the academy has set us back, probably about five years maybe more. If we can get that sorted for next season we may see the fruits of our labour in 3 to 5 years. In the mean time, we will probably have to rely on players produced elsewhere. Just shows how important that decision to scrap the academy was by Koukash.

It will be good next year to watch a Salford team with Watkins and Burgess partnered together again.

Just hope that back line stays fit. But then again Costello, Williams and Kear available

It will be good next year to watch a Salford team with Watkins and Burgess partnered together again. I believe Watkins generally plays out on the right so he'll be partnering Sio. Sarginson will partner Burgess as he did at Wigan on the left.

Absolutely love this signing. This is definitely the Watto/Blease effect starting to really pay off. Players want to come and buy into the culture of the club.
As far as I’m concerned I’m just seeing this season as a free hit and a great chance to get the squad to gel by the 2021 season when they can hit the ground running.
Like has been said on here, 2 props needed and personally I think a scrum half, I don’t think Brown has been good enough.
