Only he RFL could extend the contract of it's national head coach before he has taken charge of an actual game.

Err what was the alternative?! He basically had half the games he was planned to oversee wiped out. Let’s give him a chance.

If England had a decent world cup people would be asking why the RFL hadn’t tied him down for longer so they can’t win really.

He’s played his cards well, hinting that he was expecting job offers from the NRL,and they bought it. I do think he’s a good choice as GB coach, though

Isn't he just the England coach?
In any case a new contract in August when the Ashes would've been After the GF is weird!
Large payout if he's rubbish though...nice!

Seems to me that Wane has played the authorities like a virtuoso, there isn't an NRL team going to be interested in him other than maybe as a UK based scout.

Did anyone see Wane being interviewed on the Super League Show last night? He was talking about getting together with coaches to discuss releasing players for training camps etc. Said he'd already met Woolf & Lam and was due to meet Agar next week. No mention of any other SL coaches so looks like we can expect the usual suspects to be named in his future squads then.🙄 Whilst he may well meet up with every SL coach in due course he needs to consider his words more wisely. Makes it look like a closed shop for players seeking international call-ups and you need to play for one of the "big" 3 or 4 to even be considered.

As his idea is the "Exiles" expecting much by way of imaginative is a big ask.
It's hard to see how he can look at many outside those who make the top 4 because he has to consider fitting them together as much as getting the right balance.
Tui and Jackson in any side would make for a good test for England.

Now that Seibold has left Brisbane I can see how this was a shrewd bit of business.
I mean SW must surely have been the Broncos go to man to steady the ship 😂
