2 August pencilled in. Crowds won’t be allowed until October at the earliest. Story on BBC Sport and League Express.

Encouraging but so many issues.
Limited crowds, how on earth do you say who can and can't attend, are the games that have been played going to be expunged and we just restart with a mini league?
The good thing about maybe restarting the league is that we have had a rake of home games already so in effect the revenue stream has been much better than it might have been if the majority of our games had been away from home.

It raises the Question of players signing for other teams in the Superleague IE: Niall Evalds We could end up if we made the play offs with playing Castleford One weekend with him playing for the Reds and the following week or two playing against us for Cas. I believe his contract expires 31st October.

A perfect example of why the RFL should have banned all signings for next season until the criteria for this was known, but when have the RFL ever done anything remotely right.

I don’t think they could have legally- that’s the problem. Someone would have taken them to court and they wouldn’t have the money to defend the case or much of a case to defend either.

Disagree, would have been easy to change the anti tap up date from May 1st to say June 1st, then July 1st and so on, can't see many of the teams in SL pushing back on it. Morally any club that did and then signed a player would have been made to look like pariahs to all the rest.

They’d say the RFL was leaving them in limbo (by not letting them secure contracts elsewhere) especially if they announced it at the last minute. I’d guess they wouldn’t have a leg to stand on in court which is why they left it. And as for contract end dates there are obvious reasons why the RFL can’t change those.

This worries me, if Toronto are getting any kind of help from the RFL then they should not have been allowed to register Watkins, fair enough if they aren't but even the merest little bit of a assistance should be ended immediately. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/52768424

Might free up Tony Gigot though

I would be amazed if Ian Watson went within a million miles of Gigot. He is a massive crank, who plays for himself not the team. He is trouble and I believe Mr Guasch was pleased to see the back of him.

Can't agree at all with this font and Guasch is just shrewd enough not to be pushed into something he doesn't want to do, as well as having enough cash in normal times to go for good signings.
Apart from being a big game player who like a lot of others can go missing during games I can't think of a better coach for bringing out the best in him.
Mind you sport is all about the disagreement. ain't it?

I’m with the Font on this one - even on his best day I thought he looked a good but not great player. I could never understand why so many gushed over him - maybe it’s because he is French and people are desperate for a star French player to give the game there a boost.
He tries a lot of things that don’t always come off and when they don’t his performance snowballs. Watson likes a player to fit into a system or someone he can fit a system around. Gigot isn’t that type of player - as the Font says, he does what he wants.
Look at our teams over the last few years under Watson and the only real ‘maverick’ player we had was Lui and even he reigned it in for the good of the team.
