It's great and all, but it isn't an awful lot of money when you think about how thinly it's going to be needed to be spread.

This is good news but something about it worries me.
Clubs will have to apply for funding you would hope that this is shared equally not just the bigger clubs getting bigger cuts.
Each SL should get the same set amount with the proviso that that's it. Same for Championship and league 1 teams.
If you read it the £16,000,000 is a loan, how on earth is the sport of rugby league going to fund repayment?

It's great and all, but it isn't an awful lot of money when you think about how thinly it's going to be needed to be spread. It’s exceptionally good and very well done to the team that negotiated this. Far more than we could’ve hoped for, bearing in mind those others with noses in the trough. Splitting it equally in a particular division would be fair, but too broadbrush. The RFL has the financial information to deal with this according to need.

Something has just come to me, will Catalans, Toulouse and Toronto be eligible for some of the money? Really can't see how UK tax payers money can be used to help prop up overseas teams.
Also if money is being made available to teams there should be a ban on player recruitment until we can start back with full crowds, wouldn't be right to get a handout but then be buying new players.

No I don’t think it will - we’ll get more details at 12 though apparently.

The loan has a lot of details to it and by all accounts it has been made very easy to pay back. I’m just happy we have got some support other sports have got nothing.

Been thinking about this; "Each SL should get the same set amount with the proviso that that's it. Same for Championship and league 1 teams.". In one respect I agree as it would indicate that all clubs are important. However, with a Union hat on, how can we ignore clubs with larger numbers of employees (such as Saints) having a greater need to avoid redundancies that clubs with a smaller number of employees (such as us)? Whatever decision is made, it will not be fair to all.

There’s an interview with Paul King from a few weeks back where he mentions this and the fact he’s going to go in fighting for our fair share of the bailout, fingers crossed we get it. Why should we get less when we’ve only got fewer staff because we have cut our cloth according to our incomes, other teams are being bankrolled having many more staff. We’re also one of the j only teams with players all getting full pay. Seems we are doing the right thing on all fronts, and shouldn’t be punished, in my somewhat biased opinion!

It’s a loan not a handout so I don’t think we should be pushing for more than we need - we’d have to pay it back eventually. It makes sense that as we are a smaller operation with lower operating costs we need less to keep going until games restart.

Read something the other day where Carter from Wakefield was saying he's not going to ask for any as it's just false economy, you get some short term comfort for long term pain.
What I would be pi$$ed about (but unfortunately wouldn't surprise me) is that some clubs get a big slice of the cake and then when it does come to repay they cry poverty and get help from the powers that be.

I don’t believe for a minute that these loans will ever be repaid, they just can’t be seen to gift us the money. On that basis,Carter is naive and King is bang on

Well technically it is a loan, if there is no repayment then hell yes fire in there and get all you can.
