I was looking on You Tube to see a bit of Salford action and came across this game against the pies from 1988 Salford v Wigan 1988 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The team spirit from the game reminded me of last year with everyone playing for each other. The defence is awesome against one of the best club side in history. The team contained a number of players that older fans will remember well. Paul Shaw, Peter Williams. Peter Brown, Adrian Hadley, Steve Gibson and a certain Ian Blease. It also showed the strength of the referee (Steve Cross) in not putting up with Dean Bell (Dirty Ba****d), Andy Gregory and Elery Hanley influencing every decision. It's a 45 minute highlights video and well worth watching

My memory is crap but Ive always remembered this game for Dean Bell taking out both our centres,Ian Bragger and Peter Williams. Really good crowd and hell of a Wigan team. Shelford was a monster. Thanks for posting this

If this is the game I think it is I remember being in the Farmers Arms with a few people from golf and a few Salford players the night before, back when the professionalism was slightly less fastidious as today.

Michigan, as a fan in those days it was great to be able to talk to your on field heroes over a pint down the local. I spent many a night in the "Inn of Good Hope" seeing some of our players over a pint or two. A great time to be a Salford supporter in those days both characters and some class on the field
