Tex has been a cult hero at Salford from the first day he put on a Red shirt. On the field he was a great character and crowd pleaser. About a year ago on a coach going to an away match I got talking to a lady who still carries a photo of Tex in her purse. Which player can say that 25 years after they retired? I recall him going round Garry Jack when he played for Swinton when Garry was the Golden Boot holder. All the best Tex and get well soon.

He got me hooked on Salford as a kid. So many stories about him and every one makes me smile. It really hit me when I found out he was in hospital.
The 91 Premiership final summed up his playing style. Him and Gibbo both went for a high ball, ran into each other and dropped it. A few minutes later they combined multiple times to go the length of the field and score an absolute cracker. He’s scored some belters and put in some massive hits in his time but also dropped some massive clangers. He was nothing if not entertaining!

One of my early Salford hero’s, never met him but know lots who know him and he’s a lovely funny man. get well soon Tex I was refereeing a match at Eccles in which Tex’s son was playing for Warrington town team. Tex was the sponge man and did his best to put me off by cracking jokes and asking for a fair crack. When I told him I was a Salford fan and had admired him as a player he got worse. He continually tried to get a fair deal for his team but always with a glint in his eye. A lovely man who I sincerely hope makes a full recovery. Get well soon Tex.

Years ago I was involved @ Swinton when Tex was on the wing.
We were playing Workington away on a miserable day & Micky Peers was giving the team talk instead of Jim Crellin.
Half way through Micky`s `speech` Tex shot up & exclaimed `We are here to win - We are the best side east of the Mississippi`
Great bloke.

Good to hear as after I first saw it, it seemed to disappear ... not surprising I suppose but thinking of each other means the individual people involved not just the numbers. Stay well Reds keep safe!

Out of intensive care and on the ward now apparently. A positive result hopefully. Fingers crossed for the rest of his recovery.
