In the Times today,Stuart Barnes and Stephen Jones each rate their top ten Union fly halves of all time. Jones rates David Watkins as number one. Can’t manage to upload the link.

Does DW still hold a RL record for most no of scores in consecutive matches. Nearing.a hundred matches I seem to remember. Or am I dreaming?

Frank Myler who has just sadly died was also a phenomenal player.
The thing that always gets me about DW is the length he could kick the old leather ball with old style boots. Spinning the ball to either touchline. Todays all stars with lighter balls and better boots don't seem to hit it that far. Although my Swinton mate keeps telling me the longest goal kick was by Martin Hodgson for Swinton in leather boots with leather ball, 77 yards.

Martin Hodgson that record still stands if I remember rightly it was at Rochdale Hornets old ground Martin toured Australia before the war I am sure he was in the Swinton team that won all the four trophies in the same season.
