Well trouble at the Thugpack actually.
Spoke with a player today and basically there's a split in the camp already, half the squad are totally against his salary and that he gets all the attention and the rest of the squad get pretty much zero exposure.

Probably not helped that he's spent the entire pre-season doing his own training away from his team. He always seems like a decent bloke, but you can't help thinking that there's an air of prima donna about him, and if there isn't, he doesn't seem to help matters by acting like one.

Yeah the training was also mentioned, wonder what will happen if as I expect Toronto go big fir a couple of Saracens RU players now relegation is assured, can't see that helping to settle things down.

No offence to him but the likes of Andy Ackers are hardly going to pull in the punters and get the media excited are they so what does he expect? This player you spoke to sounds as unprofessional as it gets though- he should keep these things to himself.

Sadly the whole thing to me is becoming a circus, contrived concept, only playing over in Canada half the year, now the team wants salary cap adjustments and may want money from SL, playing on a strange multi lined pitch, paying a 34 year old way over the odds, other issues with players being away from home for long periods, Possibly I'm the only one who's not bothered about SBW. If it was Johnathan Thurston or somebody of the ilk , yes but he was a sub for NZ. RU.And SL bosses now speaking against them.
The reality seems not to be the concept and now we have Robert Eddleston apparently saying the financial aspects haven't been thought through.
I just hope it doesn't go the way of all the past Welsh and London teams of bygone years but it does seem to be going in the wrong direction at the moment. Not being negative, just an observation, sadly. I still miss local derbys with Leigh, Widnes, Rochdale, Swinton, Oldham...but yes that was yesterday and today is Toronto, Ottawa?, New York?, Red Star Belgrade?, Valencia? Toulouse? All of which doesn't excite me. I'll go once to each but I just wonder what the big plan is,,,,or is there one? I just want good competitive RL. And we seem to be in hype mode, which at best is only temporary.

I’ve thought from the start that the Toronto project would fail as soon as the benefactor leaves the scene. That’s the case with many clubs but we do have something to fall back on,as us,Widnes etc have proved. However, don’t underestimate the situation in Toronto. It’s a good set up with plenty of local support in a sporting city, unlike the set ups in the States which are basically dots on the map with little local support. At the moment Toronto is massively more advanced than anywhere else, but the logistics and finance were always going to be very challenging. I really hope it succeeds.

You know whats good for once? We are normally the team who has rumours of unrest, instability etc before the start of the season.. Instead we've got news of Watson, Greg Brown and Evalds signing new contracts.
Makes a change and its fantastic.

It's funny isn't it? Salford and off-season drama were always a thing, but it feels like the distant past now. Thankfully.
