Heard from a third party, that a container ship got trapped the wrong side of the collapsed bridge, M/c side and it's costing something in the region of £12 million in port fees, lost revenue. The ships company are suing the bridge building firm, who have now gone out of business, bump.
Don't know if there is any truth in this. Has anyone got more accurate news ?

Michigan I couldn't tell if this was good or bad news and the map didn't seem to show the ground. The number of people on the doorstep is one thing but what sort of major disruption will take place until that catchment area delivers for SRD?

I'd suggest more disruption. if and when the new road (that the majority are convinced is the answer and will increase our gates by a couple of thousand) eventually opens, if this project gets the green light it's going to cause further issues with congestion and road closures around the locality of the new road on the Trafford side for the duration.....so back to square one???

According to the Irlam and Cadishead times it looks likely it will be 2018 before the new bridge opens

It is definitely going to be a while till the bridge is open. I understand that the four towers need knocking down and rebuilding and the investigation into what happen is still on going.

Report online says only 1 Tower needs total replacement and the others can be repaired, worryingly though all reports indicate 2018 before it is reopened. When the whole Barton investment started pretty sure Peel were told only our ground of all the construction projects could be built until the bridge and new road was finished, if that remains the case then the likes of Ikea can't start to build and the added exposure of the ground/club that will bring will be delayed.
Also told there is a sports bar to be built on site near the ground.
