With the sad news Sam Burgess is being forced to retire with a shoulder injury surely there is a need for us to offer him a part time pay as you play deal?
I mean Moose arrived with shoulders made out of Digestives and look at the miracles we did for him.

Think he'll be ok for money on a 1M Aus a year and apparently he's keeping them to his contract, for the next 3 years. Inglis apparently didn't.

Sad day. Best British forward in my life time, It’ll upset a few but quite a lot better than Moz. That performance against NZ In the semi in 2013 WC was unbelievable.

Morley was an enforcer, and nobody did it better, including Burgess who isn't too bad it either. Australians feared Moz like no other player. However, I feel that as talented players, Burgess was superior.

Absolute freak of a player. If only we could produce backs/halfs like we produce forwards we'd be consistently beating the Aussies when it matters. Huge shame that he's had to call it a day but he's a wealthy man and at least he'll have a comfortable retirement unlike a lot of former greats who never really got the financial rewards their talents deserved.

Agreed. Hanley was special.

Of those who 'worked' in Aus. How about a pack of Moz Hodgson Graham Ellis Burgess Hanley Anything better? Hodgson is the weird one for me in that list. Every time I watched him in SL and almost every time he's pulled on the England jersey he's been bang average IMO. Yet he's been voted Daily M Hooker of the year in the NRL. So either I can't spot a decent hooker (quite likely😂) or his game is suited to the NRL and he's just struggled to replicate that form in the international arena. Bit like Mike Cooper. By all accounts he was great at St George(?) but he's never stood out in SL. EDIT: just found this list online... rugbyleagueopinions.com/greatest-british-import-players-australian-rugby-league-nrl/Funny how James Graham only squeezes in at #10 yet the writer claims that Hodgson will make the top 5 in a couple of years time...😲

He runs the show in Aus but it must be hard to get the hooker, 2 half backs and full back playing together when you only meet up a couple of times a year. As against Tonga half backs and hooker looked ordinary (fb dire)

I've seen a lot of British RL fans questioning Hodgson but it's because they don't see him week in and week out. After Cam Smith, he's probably rated as the best hooker in the world. He plays in the top competition in the world and at the top end of it. Canberra play around Hodgson. He organises, makes calls, and moves them around the pitch. The reason he looks underwhelming Internationally is because GB/England are an inferior side to Canberra as things stand. Sorry if that upsets anyone, but the truth hurts sometimes. GB's problems lie with trying to get a team of individuals to play as a team. Not easy when you have way too many cooks to spoil the broth. GB the other day had Widdop and Hastings operating rigidly to left and right sides with neither able to take control and give the team direction. Coote and Widdop's kicking was awful. Hodgson tried to take the game by the scruff of the neck, but nobody was on the same page as him unfortunately.
