Wow there are some right old codgers on here!😉
I think probably 863/864 for me as I started watching Salford around September 89 when I started at Hope High.
Quite a few "wow they must have been **** cos I can't remember them" & "whatever happened to?" kind of players in that list.😂
Think that deserves a separate thread of it's own tho so I may stick something up later for a but of fun.

My parents started to take me to the Willows in 1946 when I was five, I remember Tommy Harrison as my dad said he used to have a drink with him,Tommy may have run a pub. My dad also pointed out Barney Hudson on one occasion, but wasn’t playing ,possibly he had retired but looked like a giant.

Looking at the list, I wondered which number I would have had if I'd have made the first team back in the day. Somewhere between Steve Blakeley and Phil Coussons. Ill take 901 and a half. Haha. Phil was the only one out of the academy side to play first team iirc at the time. There were plenty of others that would have made great first-teamers if it wasn't for Tamati's fatal decision to change the academy management and take it away from John Blackburn. I believe John will be something to do with the reserve set-up this coming season. His knowledge and management will be a great asset in getting future players their own heritage number.

Coincidence to get a Frenchman at 1066 Bullseye. Graham Jones at 521 definitely,by my time he was playing on the wing, but I think also Fred Smith and Brian Keavney as I think they were both around for a while, but I’m not 100%. The list is a brilliant memory jerker and full marks to those who produced it.

I've noticed a few players missing or mistaken for a Namesake or Brother IE: 1981-2 Russell Henney-Harold Henney. The latter famous for a Brief scene in The Tv series Minder at Crystal palace athletic stadium mid 1980s. While London Broncos were known as London Crusaders.
I also noticed there was a Family of Reds players who played over the Generations with the same First name & Surname. The A.N Other Clan.

Coincidence to get a Frenchman at 1066 Would have been more of a coincidence if it had been Jacko’s number

Keri Brookfield 899. A Aussie from 1992 Whose Shenanigans in Manchester city Centre would still make him Blush and the Police at Bootle street Nick shake there heads in Disgust Also, Is Number 934 Scott Wilson that Aussie who walked out of his house left the Front door apparently and went straight to the Airport and flew back to Oz?
