Put it this way - Warrington fans would have much preferred Brown to Patton or Smith this year. They had free cap space but couldn’t find anyone. Cas and Leeds have had to buy someone out of a contract. KR still only have one half back. Wigan have no 6. Catalans had to give a long contract to an old bloke. We should be grateful we’ve got ours sorted. Yes and KB was available and non of those teams went for him. I saw him play for Leigh and he was dreadful. As I said I would love to be proven wrong. Same here (as I saw probably the same Leigh game) but I’m trying to look at the positives.

Same here (as I saw probably the same Leigh game) but I’m trying to look at the positives. Maybe he doesn't start and is there as backup to tutor Tui and Atkin. I think he's worth it for his experience in that regard. Preseason will determine the starters. When he was at Leigh he was coming back from a serious injury, playing in a somewhat poor team in a structure he had no familiarity in. I don't think it's fair to judge him on that. I feel sorry for him, he's already earmarked as next season's scapegoat. All I know is he's been a better player in this league that Tui or Atkin. He was also much better than either at their age. If he can pass on experience for a year and improve those guys, I'm happy. Leeds could afford to buy Lui and Gale. Cas could afford to buy Richardson after selling Gale, and probably before. Catalans have made Maloney a marquee player... we can't spend anywhere close to the cap let alone afford a marquee signing. Even at his age, Maloney will still be qulaity over here. Drinkwater would have been a nice signing but he's gone back to Catalan who have much more money. Wigan could afford Hastings, especially with Williams signing Wolves could afford Widdop. Given what he was paid in Aus, he's probably getting paid as much as half of our team, or more. Financially who else could we have brought in? I'm coming up blank. We're a team who couldn't afford the one year option on Griffin's contract extension, or afford to resign Tomlin's who isn't exactly a world beater. Next season we likely have the smallest budget in the league, given London's relegation, and, according to Sky, we had the second lowest budget this season

You’ve quoted me there but just to clarify- I’m coming round to the idea! I’d have loved to see someone like Richardson but I’m not daft and know we can’t be paying out transfer fees. And like I said, we are in a better position than quite a few as we actually have our half backs set.

Difficult one as we haven't seen a lot of them in a Salford shirt yet, but here goes....
Evalds
Sio Sarge Kear / Inu ? Williams / Chamberlin ?
Tui Brown
Dudson Lussick Mossop Greenwood McCarthy Yates
Subs: Atkin Walker Pauli Pauli Flash
Reserves: Jones Welham Johnson Lannon Burke Ormondroyd

I meant to only grab the quote you were replying to regarding those teams having the chance to get Brown but opted not to

Think knickers are getting twisted about Brown.
Would he be the clubs 1st choice? - No but you play the hand you're delt with.
Will he bring a wealth of knowledge, an astute kicking game and bags of experience - Yes.
Will he compliment Tui? - In my experience he will, my major fear is his fitness, without doubt he has the skills I personally doubt his body can carry the team as Hastings did so often this season.
I'm willing to give Watson the benefit of the doubt as he's steered the Salford ship right when it comes to digging up gems.
I also still maintain Brown will without doubt become a top quality member of the coaching staff and I'd be amazed if Watson/Blease haven't had one eye on this when they signed him.
