Absolute Rubbish from William Hill. The bets are not related at all. Jacko could have won MOS and Salford could have been relegated at the same time. I think something similar was close with George Fairbairn and Wigan a fair few years ago. I certainly wouldn't touch William Hill based on this

What a disgrace! Got to feel for the 2 lads - that winnings is relatively a drop in the ocean when you think how much the bookies make per year.

Not a gambling man myself but maybe all Salford fans should boycott William Hills

The papers are starting to pick it up. I’m no expert on this at all but a key point for me seems to be that Hastings was leading MoS when Salford were outside the top 5 so the two definitely don’t go hand in hand.
Salford finishing in the top 5 has little to no impact on Hastings MoS prospects under the points system. Hastings winning MoS possibly does have an impact on Salford finishing in the top 5 though (although it’s dubious under this new points system) and that will be their angle I imagine.

They were quite happy to take their money at the time, they should be happy to pay up now.

So all those Salford fans who bet might like to chsnge to BetFred, like Liverpool fans don't buy the Sun.

They were quite happy to take their money at the time, they should be happy to pay up now. Exactly. The betting slip clearly states what the bet is and they ACCEPTED the bet. Pay up!

I've not gambled for over 30 years (Jim Ramsbottom told me it is a fools game and he was a bookie at the time) but I tell you what if I did they wouldn't get my custom again.

My mate was a bookie and he says the bet shouldn't have been accepted (based on the fact that if Hastings was in running for MOS it's likely Salford would be doing well, hence the "associated bet" or whatever they call it). In those cases Bookies don't just add together the 2 individual bets, they offer you a reduced odds double instead (typically so it works in their favour and they pay out less). Personally, I think it stinks but technically that's the way it works.
If someone is brave/insane enough to place a bet like that they deserve not to get shafted by the Bookies. Like many have pointed out.... would Hills have been chasing those guys if the bet went down to refund them their stake due to staff incompetency? Would they f*ck!!!

Simple: the bet was accepted, so it's a contract. Either they pay or you claim against them And finally get enough air play so that they lose lots of customers
