Just woken up with a bit of a sore head. What a night we all had last night. That was the most all round performance I've seen from a Salford team in 40 plus years of watching. What a team spirit and everyone played out of their skin. Yes we have a talisman but all those "Championship Players" were brilliant. This year the team, the coaching staff, the Administration and the fans have been out of this world. What a turnout at the Pie Dome last night we must have had nearly half the attendance last night with a 9000 attendance. Now I'm going back to walking on air

I’ve rewatched the game this morning. Then watched most of it again with my dad before I had to rush for my train. The defence was magnificent and there were no lapses this week until near the end when it was a done deal and bodies were tired.
We all know that Hastings, Dudson, Mossop, Jones and Lussick were superb but Inu, Sio, Bibby, Burke, Walker and Flash were not far behind. After a dodgy couple of weeks, Welham put in a good stint.
And a quick word for Lolohea, who has obviously been asked to reign it in for the playoffs but is doing an unsung job and, despite Leeds fans concerns, has been brilliant in defence.
My only complaint was kicking and some 5th tackle options but they were obviously playing possession/territory rugby and won 4-28 so who am I to criticise?!
30+ years of anxiety, uncertainty, near misses and disappointments, all seem worth it now!

Can't see how Jacko was MOM as for me Dudson, Moose, JJ, Tui and Inu were all better.
Can finally say this but it's incredible we have gone all through the season with nothing more than a niggling injury to Hastings and Lussick, you just don't get luck like that it's priceless.

Jacko said himself in the clip I saw this morning that Dudson was man of the match when he was given the cheque for charity.

Don’t think I could choose between Mossop, Dudson and Lussick. But after watching the game again Hastings influence shouldn’t be underestimated.

So in the light of a new day, a few of my thoughts on the match;
Forward pack outstanding and won every man on man battle. Initial spell by Dudson and Mossop set the tone and the interchanges maintained it.
Defence was utterly superb, Wigan never looked like breaking through.
If I was Saints, I'd note two key things. Our field kicking is poor, just as it was against Castleford. Gave away a lot of territory that way. Secondly, we can be beaten for pace, which Wigan didn't really try until it was too late, being sucked into losing a forward battle. I would expect Saints to play an expansive game against us. Rain would level matters off somewhat.
But overall, play like that and we'll give ourselves a decent chance at least. Top performance, and most pleasing was the mental attitude. Completely unfazed by the occasion and rigourously sticking to Watson's gameplan. You can see that they're really enjoying it, and really playing for each other. You can't buy that.

I thought the kicking game was ok, distance for touch could of been better, but i think the plan was to make them play out of there own defence, rather than have a chance of 7 tackles from the 20 mtr line.

Exactly this. We put almost no short kicks in to avoid 7 tackles sets. Power play on the 5th almost every time in their 10. Wigan kicked a ball dead in goal and we score our first try off that 7 tackle set. The tactic since we switched to play off tactics (Leeds away or a bit earlier) has been to keep the ball in play and back our defence. Wigan’s pack was knackered because they never got a rest. Same with Cas. Kick high to give the chasers time to close down the catcher and to avoid the chance of giving a scrum or a 7 tackle set. Then hunt the error. That said I think we might change tactics a bit for Saints

Magnificent achievement. As my user name implies I live in a holiday town. Watched it in the only dedicated rugby league bar in Brid with fans from just about every Yorkshire club and every one was cheering for Salford. Hope you can pull it of next week.

There's not a lot more I can add on what's already been said, but here's just a few thoughts on Friday: Plus points: - Managed the game really well, was worth it going for the 2 when we did.
- Great defence, Wigan didn't really have a sniff.
- Forwards were on top overall
- Great turnout and atmosphere
- Got out of the car park in record time, literally no traffic which is always nice (was parked up behind the Wigan end)
Downside:
- Idiots running on the pitch at the end
- Beer being thrown, what a waste! And of course, it's not nice for anyone getting hit with it.
- (Extremely minor) - not nilling them. I heard that they've never been nilled at home in the SL era?
All in all, I'd probably have to say it's the best overall game I've been to

I forgot this but I wonder if Watson might pull Inu to 1 side this week, for the Wigan try he just gave up, might not have caught him but could have narrowed the angle.
Either that or we have gone back to the Noble days of having cruise liners on the wing not speed boats.

I think he had a knock mate - he was also struggling chasing Hastings kick through a few minutes before. He’s not the fastest but something was definitely not right. Seemed ok after the game though.
