According to a few reports (BBC/Facebook) he has now provided proof of his eligibility and is more than likely to be picked.

Sorry but much as Jacko is forever a Salford legend he should not be anywhere near the GB set up.
He's Australian end of.

If his motivation is right (and it seems to be) then I have no issue with it. A large chunk of people who bang on about ‘British pride’ will have done absolutely nothing for their country- if he’s willing to put in the effort, try and win for the GB team then he’ll have more to be ‘proud’ of than most.
I won’t compare league to other sports regarding heritage players because it’s been done to death. League is struggling massively for fans though, especially beyond the M62 and Hastings is very marketable. He someone kids can get excited about and look up to. Kids won’t really care that he’s an Aussie unless parents convince them it’s an issue.
In an ideal world, attendances are through the roof, league is the hot topic and we are bursting at the seams with talent - when that happens we can tighten up the eligibility criteria.

I have no problem with it either.
For some reason, we as a Nation seem to have massive hang-ups about this subject, whereas other Nations have welcomed foreign-born players into their national set-ups for decades.
Maybe a little microcosm of why we as a Nation are where we are in the world currently...
