Hello Folks, I don’t post much on here other than the predictions league - which I’m tripe at - but would like to thank everyone who has been very kind since my dad, Pete Aldcroft, passed away from cancer on Aug 28th at the age of 69. He was a regular at The Willows during the 60s and 70s, away games too, whilst a younger man and although his job and young family got in the way a bit in the 80s / 90s we all started back up with Salford in the mid 2000s and he was again a regular home and away thereafter until his illness got in the way (he actually told me he was ill on the way to Huddersfield on the club coach a couple of years back in his usual understated style and then just got another can out of the bag!) It’s certainly been my favourite time following the team up and down the country with him this last 10yrs or so. Paul King has been tremendously generous with his time and concern during the last few months and has okayed a minutes applause in the 10th (my dads lucky number) minute tomorrow night and invited my dads family up to the 1873 lounge for the game. Will be an emotional night for us but would like to pre-empt and thank everyone again for making my dads later years such enjoyable ones following his beloved SRLFC. To paraphrase Kevin Keegan ‘I would just love it if we won the Grand Final this year!’
Steve x

God bless your Dad pal. I also lost my 80 year old Dad to cancer in July. He too was a lifelong fan since the 50's and took me to my first game in the late 60's. Here's to them both, and although it'll be emotional for your family, it'll be another great memory for you all to share when you remember him. I'll be in Sunny Beach, Bulgaria, but will toast them both in the 10th minute. Cheers 🍻🍻🍻🍻

RIP Pete
He is at rest now and there can be no fitter tribute to his loyal support than to have his own acknowledge him in such a way.

Think the fans and the players did your old man proud yesterday.
Hope it continues all the way to OT.
