Not surprised by that, you can't blame someone for wanting to test himself at a higher level.
Personally I think Salford should be busy tieing him down to a longer improved contract so that if/when the inevitable happens we get some sort of compensation for him.
I think it’s more likely we line up his replacement next year then send him off with our best wishes after that - doubt we would block him with a massive fee for compensation after all he has done. I’d love for him to stay for a long time but he deserves a crack with a bigger budget and a higher profile.

Would be the obvious and fair progression for Watson so fair play to him but could imagine the uproar if he did get the job especially after the season we've had/having. I can understand people wanting to challenge themselves at the highest level it just seems every time we build something that could in the next 1/2 years challenge if we could keep the core and coach together to have it all thrown away.
Watson is arguably our most valuable asset - get him signed up on a long-term contract. Although it is understandable if he wanted to have a crack at one of the bigger clubs, and fair play to him if he does one day.
I think I've said this before on another thread, I cant see the likes of Saints, Wigan, Leeds appointing Watson because has hasn't actually won anything. Yes he has worked miracles especially this year and for me is coach of the season but the bigger teams will want a proven winner with a track record of success.

What did Holbrook win before going to Saints?
Exactly. He won nothing in the NRL, in fact isn't this his first head coach position? Pretty sure he's been assistant at all his other clubs.

He had worked with Trent Robinson at Roosters where they won 2013 Premiership title and won the Grand Final. He was also part of the coaching team that led the Roosters to minor premierships in 2014, 2015 and 2018.
If super league isn't careful, it could find itself following the footsteps of the Premier league, where young home grown coaches are rarely given a chance in favour of some foreign coaches who have won little and have no experience of our game. You expect the big clubs to follow this trait, but it would be nice to see someone like Watto be given his chance with a big gun..

Like Watto but not Watto for a couple of years, until we get up there! Same in cricket, England need a new coach...Aussie or South African..why?

You never know, but if we win something this year and next year we will be a big gun
