So a Downmarket tabloid newspaper has stopped it's Coverage of RL because of its Reporters being prohibited to enter and Report from Anfield stadium during The Magic Weekend, Firstly how many people these days get there majority of RL News from a Daily Newspaper? When I'm back in the UK The only Newspapers I get are the Metro and Manchester Evening News on a Thursday and Friday because there free in MCR City centre. I don't believe it's a great loss. To be honest I'd rather Nail my Scrotum to A piece of Chipboard with some rusty carpet tacks than buy the particular publication. www.loverugbyleague.com/post/rugby-league-today-happy-hull-latest-on-the-suns-rl-ban-and-benjis-back/

We don't know to what extent media support or hype contributes to the size of Football and Rugby Union. We need as much positive RL coverage we can get.

It’s a bit of a mess isn’t it? I don’t support Liverpool FC on many things but I am 100% behind them with the Sun boycott. The suns response to hillsborough is unforgivable and they’re mealy mouthed half apology makes it worse
The suns hypocrisy over this is rank. They still report on Liverpool FC despite not being allowed in but are refusing to cover RL because of the Anfield ban
The RFL apparently accredited Gary Carter for MW which was ridiculous as they know about the boycott. So I can partially understand the upset - a governing body shouldn’t be dictated to by a venue. And for all it’s faults the sun has a big readership and the sport are not in a position to turn down publicity.
The saddest thing is poor Gary Carter. A Salford fan who had recovered from a major brain injury to be a journo. There aren’t many paying gigs in RL media so I try not to hold working for the sun against him. He’s the casualty unfortunately
