As previously mentioned by other contributors and the circles we keep going around..the club would only attract more support if the club are successful. Yesterday was a massive disappointment for both club and spectators. A good cup run would have inspired further confidence etc just like it did when we when we lost to Wigan a couple of years back in the semi...that day we took 5500 to HJ and what a great atmosphere it produced. I have said on many occasions that success brings in the fans...days like yesterday just wont help and unfortunately you really cant blame the players that move on. If we were regularly top 5 and getting to Wembley then the fans would come back and we just may be able to attract the quality players or even retain them! Currently Catch 22 with it all however enjoy what we have and lets support them now and not criticise. Whatever happens will happen.

I was under the impression that seven players had been approached rather than actually signing at other clubs? We will lose some players and that's a harsh reality at where we are as a club. There's no quick fix, and unless the people of Salford start to get behind the team and turn up nothing will change. The irony is that we only need a fraction of the Salford population to turn up to make a difference. Surely it shouldn't be as hard as it is to attract an extra two thousand people from a population of hundreds of thousands sat on the doorstep? It's always baffled me. I came to the conclusion that football, apathy, and the clubs failure for thirty years has almost created an entire generation of Salfordians with no connection and no interest in RL. Where once kids tagged along with their dads, grew-up, and introduced their kids to the club. When the club entwined with the community and was part of peoples lives. These things are dwindling away rapidly and I have no idea how the club can engage sufficiently to start building. They try, but limited resources mean it's an uphill struggle. Paul great news that your recovery is going well. And like Russ says its good you are back with us. As for the situation at the moment I hope we can keep Hastings and Evalds as for the others I would not loose any sleep over If we have to look in the championship or anywhere else for that matter so be it. All as we can do is keep going. Ps I know it's old news Yes go to the new stadium but not on the conditions we signed up to where we by a pint and a pie and we get nowt.

Where's the Evalds stuff come from?
As for the future, we'll get what we deserve really. Probably under 2k there yesterday so nothing else to add really.

Evalds is probably the subject of somebody asking if he could be for sale

This remains the same.We should crawl over hot coals to get Marwan back. The crowds were much higher when he was there despite his fear he was keeping people away.
The crowd issue is answered by one single thing-Consistent on pitch success. It is the only thing that will bring in the crowds.Look at Salford City up from a few hundred to 2-3000.Why-publicity yes, but success year-on-year even at lower level. We are having a relatively successful season by our standards, but actually home form is terrible and look what happens- high profile Cup game and we blow it-badly against a team we should beat. There is your answer to the crowds.Hope is not enough it has to be consistent winning.

Which is why next season unless something miraculous happens we will see a fall in crowds, the football team getting promoted will leave some with a choice to make, watch us wallow around or watch a successful, well funded football team on the brink of Great things.
I'm not a football fan but I know which I'd choose.

I'm not a football fan but I know which I'd choose. I am one of those who support both Rugby & football, rugby league will always be my first love, however I chose to go to Wembley with 3 other red devil season ticket holders on Saturday. It was great to finally see my home town club win something at Wembley. Before you stick the knife in I am a red devils season ticket holder, gold member & paid for a ticket for the HKR game, I was surprised how many SRD fans I did see at Wembley.I think the big issue for SRD is the lack of success over the years, Salford City will not affect Salford Red Devil fans but it will affect the clubs ability to attract new young fans who are most defiantly being attracted to the football club.

I’m glad that Salford City are doing well,it’s great for the City and fills me with pride. Ultimately, don’t they face similar problems to us in relation to crowd levels and,as we had at the Willows,a long term problem with the ground. The main difference ,therefore, apart from the shape of the ball,is that they have benefactors and we don’t

Rumour and Chinese whisper I have heard. Wish Salford city football team getting into the league, their ground may not come up to the football leagues min standard, so, they won't to swap grounds take over SRD lease, in return SRD would play at Moor Lane 5 years rent free. Don't know if it would come up to Super league's standard. Getting to and from and parking could be another problem.Any thoughts anyone.?

That would kill our club off for sure, all those big ideas of the Wilkinson era have all gone up in smoke, we are going the way of Swinton. I wouldn’t go watching them at Moor Lane.
