Seeing as we're about half way through the season it's got to be said we've done better than many (I certainly had us with probably 4 points less than we have) so we can't really grumble, when you consider we let Leeds have there only good game against us I reckon we really should be 2 points better off.
We've already matched last years 7 regular season wins so that's impressive and considering that 5th at the end of the regular season last year only had 23 points we should in reality have a chance of a top 6 and possibly that coveted 5th place.
I'd have been happier if Leeds would have let Furner keep trying to polish turds for the rest of the year as Agar is no mug and they will improve now.
Looking at the remaining fixtures it looks like KR are the team that stand between us and greater things, in reality 6 wins should be possible and a win in the CC this weekend and it really does come down to luck of the draw as there will be a championship side or 2 still in the mix.
Just hope good displays help persuade some of the wavering talent that Salford is a ship worth sticking with rather than jumping on the life rafts.

Well said MR.
Yes we're not fighting relegation, in fact we're fighting for a top 5 spot ( amazing top 8 gone this year) and looking to get further in the CC.
So let's be positive, let's start getting other people down to the game. Players come and go at their wish. We lost Ben MM at the start of a season, we lost Gaz O'Brien midway through a season, we had no scrum half for a season., Dobson retired when we wanted another season from him....so let's be positive, let's make this Club bigger and get it the support it deserves.
As the old saying goes..." if we all bring one person".......

I’ve enjoyed it and at the end of the day thats what it’s all about.
There have been a few games we should have won, have blatantly been the better team but have shot ourselves in the foot - you can’t win them all though and hopefully we’ll have turned a corner regarding home form. Agree with everything else - we are doing better than I predicted and away form is superb.
I’m don’t think I’ll ever forget that Cats away win - when the nostalgia kicks in a few years down the line I’m sure we’ll appreciate it even more.

All I want is the team to be competitive, and it certainly is. Beyond that ,there’s never ever talk about lack of effort which has been a theme in the past. Watson Gleeson and Blease are the most important people at the club, plus whoever’s counting the beans and keeping us afloat. It’s amazing what a good half back combination can bring. Leeds would be a far stronger side if they had what we have. So,half term report is ‘bags of effort, hope we don’t underperform in the exams’

We have got to be pleased with where we are. On the other hand you could say we should be a tad disappointed because we should have had another four points. Let's hope we can carry it on for the rest of the season. Ps As for loosing players we should be more concerned about Watson because surely he is being noticed.

Watson is being noted and, with Leeds and Wigan in the buying sector, ...

Watson won't get a gig at any of the big boys, well certainly not as head coach, he doesn't have the pulling power needed for player recruitment for their needs.

Watson was only slightly better odds with the bookies than Rob Burrow for the Leeds job. I agree with MR - no chance as head coach and I seriously doubt he’d leave for an assistant job right now.

In think it’s been a very good half season. I would have taken this if offered before the start of the season. It is s sign of how well we’ve done that I feel a bit disappointed we haven’t got another 4 or 6 points (Cas away and Wigan at home x 2, definitely 1)
to be this far in and be 2 points off top 5 with 3rd best attack and 4th best defence, to have nilled 2 teams and have the brilliance of Catalans and Washington away is fabulous. To have done it with the smallest and cheapest squad in the league just adds to the impressive nature of it

I am thoroughly enjoying it. Survival was my outlook so this is a plus for me. Watching JH is a delight and JJ just gets better and better. Joey Niall and JH have given us the best spine in years and we finally have forwards who can make yards. Burke and Dudson have been huge pluses for me, Widnes fans totally slated them just shows what confidence and good coaching can bring. Everyone seems to be trying to put the club down especially League Express, but the whole club just keeps proving them wrong. Long may it continue

I'm really chuffed so far and as a long-suffering fan its great to be able to look forward to any game knowing that we have a real chance of victory and other than the first Leeds home game we have been more than competitive...Also, we have an easier run of home games in the second half of the season and with wendyball finished soon we might get more stay-aways to come back....great thread btw!

If it was offered at the start of the season I'd have snatched your hand off!
