Not checked this hybrid thing out but it doesn't appeal in their slightest, I guess marketing wise it won't be a bad thing but as a spectacle I won't be bothering. I've tried to watch union, I've tried not to dislike the people involved in the sport, I just can't. Each to their own though.

When yoonion is not up to no good things it is above all essentially a competitor in a very tight sporting market. It is also run by people who take over companies for that very same reason. So they can never be our friends in sport no matter how you dress it up. Now when you tried to watch kick and clap did you get past the ten minute mark which I believe is the standing record for a leaguie to cope with yawn, it may even be in the Guiness Book of Records cos I've never got anywhere near that. Or as my wife says when funny onion is on "What time does the Rugby start?"

Must just be me then, being from a Welsh family I was brought up loving both League and Union, some of my happiest memories have been in Edinburgh watching the Scotland V Wales 6 Nations games, the atmosphere in the Greyfriars Bobby pub before the game is brilliant or the buzz when Wales stared down the All Blacks after the Haka in Cardiff.
Likewise days out heading down to London last year to the Olympic stadium to Watch England V NZ were equally good or watching the old Lions games against Australia or NZ bring back happy memories (it still should be the Lions playing not England for me).
To me two different sports with a common theme/heritage that offer good entertainment.

To me two different sports with a common theme/heritage that offer good entertainment. I don't think I ever said that anyone shouldn't enjoy it, and if they like it that's not a problem. I've only really said 3 things: I prefer league and will defend it, sometimes union gets up to some very poor stuff against League and they shouldn't be able to get away with those things and they are arch competitors and should be seen as such. They are certainly two different sports, and the one thing I admire about union is no matter what goes on on the pitch they're all happy as Larry and positive about their game and the opposite is very true for League.

I looked at the Reds on Newsnow Salford Red Devils and as usual when this kind of game takes place the articles nearly all refer to Gloucester. Now there are reasons why that is the case but it favours ru, and I'm not exactly gobsmacked that this is the case.

To be fair, of the six articles I can see, two are from Gloucester's own site and one's from the Gloucester Citizen. Of the other three, one's from our site and the other two are perfectly balanced reports on league sites. There's obviously a pro-Union bias in the nationals (and it's a stinking turd of a sport) but I just can't see it here.

I did try to play this one down a bit, the mentions where ever they come from help create a picture of union importance, this is not anything akin to the Daily Mail but it doesn't exactly help or surprise anyone. My feeling is that it always seem to favour kick and clap whenever we become involved with them. But is it a stinking shiny turd?

A turd rolled in glitter at best. I've done some more research on the hybrid game and even looked at the game's website. I did wonder why the focus all seemed to be on yoonion. The rules are not simple but changing to yawn when attacking means that all the exciting bits ( and I use the phrase lightly) and by that I mean tries would always be scored under onion rules so there is bound to be a greater emphasis on kick and clap and always would be. As I've said before when involved together it's amazing how often ru gets the better of the deal. And stouffer I think in this case they stole the glitter and left us with the rest.

As a footnote to this and the end of season match, on TotalRL someone else posted about the Hybrid game, was supportive of the idea and it stayed of the general forum,it wasn't moved. Maybe it's just the opinion you have that gets moved if you dare say anything about yoonion.I'm amazed at some of the pro-League people who think ru is our friend in sport. But then again getting into bed with the wrong sort is bound to end in tears before bedtime!
Did anyone see the LoveRL article on the fight for Touch Rugby between the two sports?Touch is League without the tackling and yet funny onion are after the rights to own it; Funny that.

Good article for everyone who thinks, believes or imagines Yawn is our friend in rugby. Funny onion is an Olympic sport which breaks the fundamental tennet of the Olympic Charter and movement that sport is a right and shouldn't be interfered with by anyone. Yet even on RL websites and forums you will hear people from RL defending them and ignoring things like Italy, the UAE etc etc. And if I hear one more response the likes of "Well I like both , because it's not about that it's about wrongs and rights and getting away with shameful acts.
