I know the anti RU mob will say I'll not watch this as they hate us more than we hate them but I think this looks quite good. Some brilliant old names in both sides and how ironic we'll see Iestyn Harris in a Salford shirt, all we need is Noble to be water bottle carrier and we'll have the full set. www.reddevilsrugby.co.uk/devils-to-take-on-gloucester-in-mitsubishi-motors-hybrid-cup/For those who decry losing the Willows Gloucester's ground will be an eye opener, a traditional old ground that has been extensively renovated and locals who are surprisingly knowledgable for RL, I spent some time working down in Quedgeley and got taken to a few home games and found everyone to be very friendly, quality beer and you have to experience a few thousand people doing a passable impression of Worzel Gummidge while slowly chanting Glorrrrsterrrrrr.

Gloucester have Mitsubishi as main shirt sponsors also so it's a corporate thing.

It's fluff but doesn't involve the first teams. It's for charity,it'll be a good day out so why not ?

Quite cheap on the train so well worth a visit, apparently the game is being played under hybrid rules already well established in Australia so I'd think might be a good laugh, tickets only £7 too.

Hybrid rules are okay, as a fan to watch. Check out stuff on Youtube.
Not for me though. I have a very in-depth dislike of RU in general from personal experience and will have nothing to do with it, them, or the sport in general.

Checked it out on youtube. found it more yawn than League (ie rubbish) and that was enough for me. Not surprising that Mark Ella champions it as, as usual, funny onion would have more to gain. The fact that it's corporate and for charity makes it okay but I'm like you in relation to kick and clap and we already have the greatest game so why would we change it? A waste of time but a harmless one, I hope.

I'm still always disappointed by peoples attitudes, but each to their own I guess.
Think it could well be interesting to see how people would react if the rumoured take over by the guy who's just bought Sale were to happen, you could guarantee a much closer relationship with them and many shared facilities/training methods.

That's fine. It wont be like they'll be trying to turn us into a RU side. I have nothing against the modern players. I do have a problem with those that run the RU game, and find it difficult to forgive some of the things done in the name of RU in the recent past and in some cases the present. Without going into a rant about it, I'll just say that RU as a sport has the same effect on me as football does for you. I find it boring, its over-reliance on technicalities tiresome, and constantly flabbergasted that people pay money to watch it. That's not a bad attitude towards it, that's what I feel. You can't polish a turd.

I played Union as a youth and enjoyed it a lot but have always prefered League to watch but never played it.
I like the idea of the charity game so might have a look see.

I find it interesting that the things union still gets up to go almost unnoticed but if you point them out you have a bad attitude. If Mark Ella is the face of Hybrid which sport do you think is the winner in the mixed up game? As I said I checked it out on youtube, I watched explanation videos by people from yoonion, I watched some footage and generally this showed union being played, the league parts were either not shown or were so minimal in the hybrid that it wasn't worth showing or the editing was done by unionists for unionists. I saw lineouts and rucks and mauls none of which I'm a fan of, and one of the reasons I prefer league. Union is not a sport I like I just prefer League and will always defend the greatest game if I think I need to. Of all the news coming not coming out of the club hearing that a hybrid game is to be an event is not that relevant or important right now. The trouble is as soon as you mention yawn you're made out to be unreasonable and this is ridiculous. Three words Morocco, Italy and the UAE. But if I say why I'm being unreasonable? ?? Really? I'm amazed by people's attitudes too. All the best.
