Morning all,
Just a quick observation. At the beginning of the season we were the front runners to sign the ‘Coal train’ until Sheens pulled the plug.
Most of our fans were left scratching their heads about this decision. This was added to by his block busting start scoring trys at will it seemed.
Looking back on the season to date, I feel Sheens decision has been vindicated. Undoubted talent and arguably a level above SL, But that being said it’s on his day and when he can be bothered.
Taylor has got away with a lot and I mean a lot of dirt tackles and hits, most of which would not have gone unnoticed in a Salford shirt (one would assume).
His fondness for a tip tackle and high shot has been a blight this year but worse has been the authority’s love affair with ‘big’ name NRL stars and their unwillingness to punish them to the same extent as the ‘regular’ payer.
He is now being looked into for an eye gouge against St Helens….. Let’s see what comes from that.
I for one am quite happy we didn’t sign him this season and It galvanises the trust in Sheens……..remember he knows more than us.

Taylor is an undoubted talent, but a flawed one.
Every Club he's been at he gets to a point where he can't be bothered. For what reason I don't know. You hit the nail on the head when you said 'when he can be bothered' as his attitude and off-field issues are what has stopped him being one of Australia's great forwards. I always thought Sheens decision to pull the plug was the right one, as we would have been bringing in exactly the type of player we were desperate to get rid of.
Sometimes it takes someone like Sheens to see the bigger picture, and thankfully he did.
