I watched the Melbourne V Brisbane game this morning and it was just a totally different sport, if that is the level the NRL is going to be played at then we might as well give it up now.
The speed of the pass, the angles and the jaw dropping off loads were mind blowing.

Did they score three tries from inside their own half though?! Meant it in a different way to that, trust it was just different class, when you consider it was the first game of the season the speed it was played at was also incredible. |

The thing that impressed me was the reffing. The two refs made sure there was 10 yards at the ptb giving the teams space to play and non of the stupid little penalties around the ptb aka Childs ( wonder if he'll get a SL game this week) and

The two refs made sure there was 10 yards at the ptb giving the teams space to play and non of the stupid little penalties around the ptb aka Childs ( wonder if he'll get a SL game this week) and Thing is you didn't notice the ref's at all unless there was a video decision and then how refreshing is it for it to go to the bunker and a pretty much immediate decision made and none of the ludicrous attempts to make faux tension.
But then to put that into context you have this.
Note to the RFL pay peanuts get monkeys.

Sky must pay peanuts as well then. The other thing really good was..that eloquent wordsmith Mcdermott was missing.

Said it on the Eddie Hemmings thread that the on air talent in Australia is on a different planet to what we have and when you think that Rabs wasn't featured today you can only be envious.
The fact that there are 2 different channels covering the NRL can only mean they try to outdo each other and the viewers are 100% the winners.

Every game I’ve watched this season has been the same - seems to be a coin toss on every ptb infringement and knock on/strip. I don’t like bagging the refs but they have generally been poor so far this year - no biased just poor. 2 referees seems to be the way forward. |

If you wanted justification for what we spoke about as far as the quality of play and commentary in the NRL this morning had it all.
An iconic venue in the SCG, sideline comments from Freddy Fitler and the the 2 best on the mic for me in Gus Gould and Ray Warren.

Back to normal, Warrington v Wigan, McDermott prattling on about....what, nothing of value, .so sound off. Bring back Eddy Wareing and even Ray French. He's a joke.

This thread is a red herring there are only two forms of Rugby the real one and the perversion.
One has the ball in play for about 57 minutes.
And the perversion has the ball in play for around 35 minutes that seem to drag into eternity.
You can easily google which one is which?
