Musings.
I've seen worse Saints teams muller us so I'll kind of accept that.
BUT
We need to work on our tackling technique, I'd make an educated guess that tonight Saints ended up Dominant in the tackle at least 80%, we seem hell bent on letting the opposition player fall on his front, get up quickly and allow the quick front foot movement forwards.
Despite out increased attacking options out kicking game is championship standard at best.
Other teams seem to take I'd guess at 10 seconds longer getting off/up from the PTB and I'm sure we are missing a trick.
Big Ben Nakubuwai needs a bit of angry in him, someone for Gods sake put some chilli paste on his bog roll game day, when you're that big you should be skittling people for fun.
WHY? when Mouse was in a moon boot as late as Wednesday has he started tonight, him going off crocked seriously ham-fisted us tonight, I'd hope it wasn't just to play him.
More general guff.
So a ref can take advice from the electronic officials to allow a player to be put on report but not to see what Mr wonder and Charles were screaming for, the ball played the man when it went into touch, can't be construed as anything other than FAKE.
Turget is a top notch find (TOP TOP NOTCH), if we don't sign him on long term he's off and he's of to his pick of top 4 teams, the lad is top drawer.
Hastings is just other world, we (or maybe he does it himself) let him do to much work, he WILL get crocked sooner rather than later if we don't protect him.
Lussick, every bit as important as JH, he just goes about business a bit different.

Yes RL has got to adopt the way Union uses the video. Two bad decisions in the first half gave them field position and cost two tries.
But if Thaler had checked with the video ref he'd have got them right. But they did correct two tries he got wrong. Perhaps he's just not the best

MR, I think the better option is to applaud the effort and pride. I do agree that Big Ben fails to run his weight. Moose had an unconnected injury,I’m told. We were unlucky on a couple of decisions but the better team win, despite our strenuous efforts

Fair questions MR. To be fair I thought we got more saints players on their backs and did a better job slowing the ruck than we did against Leeds. I thought Leeds tactics were really interesting. In the 2nd half in particular they focussed almost completely on taking the tackle, staying in their feet or their front, playing the ball quickly and attacking round the ruck in numbers. I was surprised saints didn’t do more of that as we looked slow and soft around the ruck at times.
But I agree we are not great at the wrestle and getting teams on their backs. We work so hard in defence this year but we don’t seem to be mastering that aspect

It was certainly a demonstration of what a difference winning the floor makes between two sides.
I thought the lads were unlucky this game too.
I refuse to moan about refs as if I start it might never end.

We were unlucky on a couple of decisions but the better team win, despite our strenuous efforts I think the problem with Ben is he's too nice/shy. If you saw him at the pre-season launch Jacko tried to get him to talk on the mic and he struggled to get a word out of him! Kinda reminds me of Sidlow a bit. Reckon Sidlow had the ability to be a top prop but we all felt he was a bit "soft" (not intended as an insult btw). Most top front rowers are nasty tw@ts on the pitch regardless of their personalities off it, a switch just flicks and they go into beast mode. Not sure Ben has that in him which is a shame as he's a monster of a guy physically. As for the defeat, gallant effort but we were just beaten by a better team in all departments even taking into account a couple of poor decisions that went against us. Atmosphere was sh*t though. Outsung by a bunch of 12 year olds Scouse chavs and we didn't really get behind the lads. Can we not be ar$ed sometimes? I always thought we were better than that, small in numbers but loud in voice.

I seem to be in the minority here but I thought Ben played well and has developed more than he did last year. He benefited last night from more time on the field - ran well enough and tackled very well. He has improved his running angles from last year. He’s only 22 don’t forget.
I think the main thing going against him is that people hold him up as BMM’s replacement when he is never going to be that sort of player.
A bit of aggression would be good but as long as he keeps improving I think he’s a decent bench player who could aim to be a permanent starter.

as long as he keeps improving I think he’s a decent bench player who could aim to be a permanent starter. I agree with this but his aspirations, and ours for him,are set far higher than this. i think he said that he sees himself in the NRL and,to do that,he needs to add a bit of mongrel

He's only as old as Murray, give him chance to grow up. . Thought his tackling was great.
Props come good in their mid 20s when they get aggression after being hit so many times but sadly they'll both be at St Helens thsn😉

Once you get over the frustration of the game, and it was frustrating, I just thought Saints did an excellent planned job on us. And what we needed was a plan B and I don't think we've got one. Being hampered by economics doesn't help either.
We can look for reasons all day long but our Game Plan was simply "out coached"!
