"Too expensive for fans you're trying to convert in a winning mad area." I changed this for accuracy. I thought the Paul McNally article was a good read, very interesting but he sounded like too much of a fan and far too negative about what can be done to really achieve anything. I’m not sure I agree that he is ‘far too negative’ - we can’t even break 5000 fans a week so there is no point beating around the bush. Offloading cheap tickets late on at the Trafford Centre or other nearby town centres is an interesting thought but if you did it every game you’d just het regular supporters waiting around there every week. Don’t agree with what he says on season tickets - with our current financial situation we need the cash boost before the season starts to afford to sign anyone.

In any line of work where you accentuate the negative, and that's what he did, you are the chocolate fireguard!
It was interesting and shed light on a lot of things especially how important attitude is to any endeavour. As I say to the people I work with "Don't list all the problems tell me how you're gonna make it work!"
Our financial situation is something other than the points he made though.

I agree to a point but you do need to admit failings before you can start on a solution. As you’ve seen on here a lot of people think community and schools work is the answer (not a criticism at all) - as he sets out, it’s not quite as good as we think. He is very, very light on solutions or viable suggestions though- maybe he’s saving that for the next blog?!
