More on this in @leagueexpress later - but it’s my understanding Salford recently asked Super League for extra funds to aid their cashflow.
Clubs were willing to approve it too - but the Red Devils then returned and said they didn’t need the funds after all, which is something.

I wouldn’t say it was a positive thing but the fact that in the end they didn’t need the money is a good sign. The trouble with having no benefactor is that the club plans ahead based on income throughout the year but a sudden unexpected bill can throw a spanner in the works.
Hopefully it’s nowt to worry about.

According to some of the replies on anti social media it seems like it was an early request for the first batch of central funding, rather than a request for any extra funds?
Clearly not great but would imagine a couple of other clubs won't be far off a similar situation with little or no income from now until the fixtures start.

Some naughty wording in the article made it look like the club was asking for extra cash, when in reality it was asking for the possibility of getting its hands on funds early that would be theirs anyway. Certainly worded in a way to add sensation to a non-story really.

Dressing up a story is nothing new and no doubt we'll have all the usual follow up stuff Which teams are circling our best players, etc. There is also a strong anti-social theme of Salford bring nothing to SL. This can all seem a bit orchestrated from this end.

And on the total rl forum, some of the games 'supporters' are calling for the club to die because of it. I hope we make them eat their words this season.

Shows how important wording is in these articles. People just read a headline then form an opinion. I suppose that's the reality of most things these days...

Carnster most people can't read a English anymore: it's some form of ancient Egyptian language being used on a screen which seems to defy anybody's logic aged over 25 or with an IQ in double figures.

Yes Total fans in particular like a bunch of old Tories deciding who can have a bed in the hospital. And the headline reading is becoming worse almost by the day.

I can't argue about the "old", but "Tory" is an insult. As a matter of fact, I spend more time on TRL than I do here. However, 'here' keeps me in touch with the club, so I keep coming back.

The problem there is there's no such thing as a young Tory but here you'll always be RED or dead! Fantastic image below, iconic stuff from an icon
