This seems a bit low key but how do you assess 2019 hopes?
Salford have nailed elements of their recruitment for 2019. Jackson Hastings and Joey Lussick both arrived from the NRL ahead of the Qualifiers and both players have made a significant impression on and off the field. Just have a look at their social media activity. Meeting and engaging with fans regularly is brilliant to see, especially for a club like Salford who lack the fanbase of certain Super League sides.
On the field - Hastings and Lussick were a sensation at half back and hooker since their moves from Manly, contributing significantly as Salford retained their Super League status. Hastings, in particular, was a wanted man before signing on at Salford, given his sensational playmaking ability. His partnership with Robert Lui could be one of the best in the competition. Could they surprise a few this season?

I'd much rather go into a season sans drama, a few decent signings on board and full pre season free of injury. We seem to be doing that this year.
As for the season itself I think if we stay free of serious injury issues that mid table mediocrity awaits, can't see London getting into double figures so the pressure will be of.
Think that if Evalds does a full season we will see him getting close to 20 tries (I just get a hunch that Watson will be having him and Hastings working on a few moves) and that Sio be up near the 20 mark too.
Don't know why but think JJ will go really well after disappointing last season and Big Ben will get more game time and turn into a BMM type wrecking ball.
Hope there are 2 or 3 more signings to come in as worry about the halves if there's an injury and we need a utility back and big knarled old prop to lead the line.

I think we're a better side than last season, on paper. The dreaded paper...
Injuries will probably dictate our season, but don't see any reason why we can't do better than last season. There's a lot of quality from the NRL in SL this coming year. More than normal, and think that the top half of the table in particular has strengthened significantly. I really think that the table will be split into two, with half running away with points and the other half fighting with those around them. As long as we play with heart and effort, I'll be happy enough. I think we'll be safe from the drop, but can't see us challenging the top eight either. Stuck safely in the middle, no dramas, and an increase in profile and support would be a good year for me.

Agree that injuries will play a big part in where we end up and that we look a better team overall than last year. I do worry about that pack but we’ll see.
I think other teams have strengthened significantly as well - even the likes of KR - so don’t think we will finish too high up the table but as long as we entertain (and I think we will with the spine we have) I don’t really care.

I think the team ethic that’s been developing will help but,in the end,it’ll be injuries that dictate our performances. Obviously there will be injuries ,just hope they’re not in key positions early in the season. Losing Vatuvei pre season last year was the last thing we needed,so fingers crossed this year

So we're fragile if injuries happen.
Lower to mid table with team ethic as a real strength.
Three players short of sufficient strength in depth.
So a very ordinary season
So we agree with the Sky assessment? apart from "Could they surprise a few this season?"

Oh don't think it will be any surprise, when you have a spine like ours every single team will not want an off day.
Think we'll do our normal and whup a couple of big uns and let someone like London do the double over us.
Consistency is needed, if Hastings were to play every game i doubt we'd take our foot of the throttle as he looks to have that overly competitive edge.

I think it's hope v reality. And reality wins.I hope eight or higher but nine would be good with an increased attendance.

Are those honest real assessments or the usual it'll never be our year no matter what expectations?
The best we can hope for is 8/9th is not the stuff of excitement, looking forward or increased crowds!
I know we all want a team that competes, doesn't give up right till the last minute and doesn't get turned over by weaker sides on paper but like Naomi's £10,000 it's not the stuff we're gonna get out of bed for, surely!

Maybe Naomi was greedy and wanted £10,000 coz Linda only wanted $10,000 … anyway back on topic... for me I'd like to see some momentum on crowd numbers, any growth would be good...if we can't increase revenue then we will still fold.. simple as that methinks... but really looking forward to watching our spine against the big boys

The spine is without question why we all got excited when he signed with us for the year. It doesn't seem to be enough for that to translate into optimism, though. Better enjoy while we still can.

Russ theirs me thinking it was a serious thread. If that's not the case I really think we finish top and half way through the season Wigan will won't Hastings and we will turn down a million pounds.Yes let's be positive.

Russ, we can be positive without going overboard- 8th/9th and some stability with some crowd growth would be brilliant but also achievable.

Let’s live in hope. The predictions on here reek of not getting ahead of ourselves,of not building up our hopes for them to be dashed. I still think we’re a forward and spare half back short, but I’d have settled for that a while ago. We will give any team a game on our day if we avoid injuries at the wrong time

I'm not sure why you would say it's not serious. I looked at people's thoughts and ideas and summed up what they seemed to be saying. It just struck me that people weren't that confident on the whole and although not sure why, felt the outlook maybe in our minds rather than on the pitch. I wasn't sure if it was pessimism or realism but it wasn't very exciting and at this time of year that seems a bit essential.
