Some will say he is in the past again.I have been to over 20 Challenge Cup finals in my time and I can tell you this I went on pub trips for the Wembley week end pubs all over Lancashire and Yorkshire Cumberland also did the same that is why it sold out.It was always the last match of the season, and great week ends they were. That dose not happen now.How many pubs are their in Salford now in the sixties their was 21 on Regent Rd alone. These wiz kids at the RFL want to study the history of the game. It's not only the RFL it's the Lennigans and other owners as well. Some of them would have a one team League so they can keep winning it the owners are as bad.

Nothing wrong with reminiscing about past Wembley trips ! Tastes change, trips to the South of France and Canada are now on the cards, and the Grand Final is the really big deal. It should stay at Wembley and the RFL ,and for that matter the clubs, should find a way of increasing the crowds. I agree that there needs to be maximum time between semis and the final to give time to assess the best way of increasing the attendance on the basis of who’s playing. The cost of tickets isn’t the biggest cost of the day out,so reducing prices doesn’t seem to be an obvious solution. Maybe the RFL and the game overall just needs to take a financial hit to preserve this wonderful occasion BUT the way forward isn’t a financial bond from last years winners. Complete bollocks

Re the 'bond for Catalan et al'. I assume Red Star Belgrade ( think they're in this year's cup comp) have to put up a £500k bond. Where do they get that kind of money from?

Red Star Belgrade are exempt from the bond because a) they are an amateur team and b) they agreed to play away for the first 2 rounds.
