Last season the Supporters Trust introduced 2 bus routes to help fans to get to the stadium. We are now reviewing the impact of these buses and would welcome your feedback so we can decide how we best use the funds we raise from you the supporters. After the initial analysis RD2 that runs from Little Hulton through Walkden, Boothstown, Monton and Winton is not viable on the numbers we have had so far so if we are to continue with this service we need to increase the numbers significantly. If you live in the area where the bus serves we would welcome your feedback on what we need to do to encourage more people to use the bus so that we can continue to support the fans.

I think it's great that the trust set these up. Pity that people don't use them - if you did one near my gaff I'd be first in the queue.
Do you allow time for a quick bevvy after the game, or have you to queue straight away for the return leg?

I think the route on the RD2 was perhpas too long winded? 1 hour 15 from LH to the stadium is not very attractive when you can drive or get a cab to the ground in about 15 mins. I think it was down as taking 40 mins from LH to the Royal Oak in Boothstown. No offence but I could probably walk there in a similar timescale.
I think though it would be more popular for Sunday afternoon games next season if the route was made a bit shorter.

Booked on and paid for the Widnes game then looked at the schedule and sacked it off and got a taxi. Plus stopping at the Stocks AND the legion in Walkden was a bit silly given they are a wind assisted piss apart... If it was more direct i would be on it every Sunday game.

I shall be stealing that as my own.
There needs to a more streamlined pick up schedule and I'd guess looking from the route maybe you could add a pick up in Worsley near the Gilbert, seen quite a few fans in the Barton pre game when I'm waiting for a cab.
Maybe a better idea would be to downsize the vehicle used, I'm assuming that you use a 45 seater? pretty sure there are local providers who can supply a 20/30 variant.

How much does it cost to put the buses on? Perhaps an idea would be to sell a sort of season ticket for the bus travel? If you could get enough money upfront it would cover the costs for at least part of the season, before counting people who pay on the day.
I'd pay £50 for it for the season if the service from LH/walkden was reduced to around 45 mins.

But does anyone know if you have to make a dash for the bus home pronto, or is there time to have a quick catch up with the lads and lasses afterwards in the bar? All I know about the return trip from the emails I've received is that the bus has priority egress (you can get little pink pills for that) which makes me think that the driver starts revving up as soon as the hooter goes. Seriously, though, if there's a good 20 minutes between the hooter and the bus setting off then I'd be up for the RD2 (I live darn sarf but when I'm up north I set off from me mum's - nearest for me is stop 4, Walkden British Legion). It'd also mean I could have a pint instead of a diet coke (even a half is too much for me if I have to drive).
Edit: and I don't mind walking up to the Stocks, so long as the wind's in the right direction if Vulcan's having a piss.

Thanks for the feedback. We are looking to change RD2 for next season by starting the journey from the Swinton Town Hall up through Walkden, down to Boothstown and then perhaps on the M60 at Worsley Courthouse to shorten the journey. This is still up for debate so please keep the feedback coming. We have a meeting with the bus company on 28th to go through our options and if need be we will have to put contract out to tender. If anyone has a contact with another bus/coach company please pm me. They need to be able to handle cash transactions which i know some don't.

How many bodies are you talking about moving? On the current RD2 route we are only looking at between 10-20 people depending on the game but a new route might prove more popular but on current costs we need 100 people across both routes to make it viable.

There are minibuses with 20 seats you could look to use and do it 1st come 1st served.

I actually live in Over Hulton so would be less likely to use it if that was the case as i'd need to get a bus/taxi to Walkden but I understand the need to shorten and think that would be a better route.

Is there no way the club could offer some sort of sponsorship to a bus company in return for them providing transport throughout the season?

Is there no way the club could offer some sort of sponsorship to a bus company in return for them providing transport throughout the season? Doubtful, they can't even get First Bus to have a bus waiting at the stop closest to the stadium post game.
Said it a million times, a direct one stop service to Eccles would be brilliant, any number of other buses, trams and trains from there plus the option of parking up to alleviate the traffic issues around the stadium.
