Obviously very soon but there's nowt like striking while the irons hot.
If there's even a little cash to splash on merchandise and marketing the club has to hammer Hastings and I'd try to use Hastings 1066 as a gimmick.
Could look brilliant if done properly.
I'll start with changing the fans bar to bar 1066 next season.

And wonder if we could give him squad number 1066? Michigan great idea on the Merchandising and you're right about doing it now. I don't think you're allowed to use really high numbers. I seem to remember Salford wanting a high number for another player recently and the RFL stopping us Maybe he could have the Number 66 and have Hastings 10 as his name Hastings 10 66

Yeah the RFL wouldn’t allow Todd Carney to have 99 for us.
Got a hunch that he will keep 31.

As there were three battles in 1066 and only one was won by us (the more famous other allowed the French in to rule to ...), I'd avoid it. I would happily sign a Harald Hardrada type as a prop.

There might have been three battles in 1066, but there was only one fought near Hastings. Jackson the Conqueror!

Yeah the RFL wouldn’t allow Todd Carney to have 99 for us. Got a hunch that he will keep 31. They decided he was too flakey.😳 Hastings has to lead the marketing for next season though as he's box office. Get him out into the schools, Trafford Centre, Printworks & The Quays pre-season with the likes of Lui, Lussick & Junior. If we can't use the re-signing as a springboard to decent attendances then we'll never get bums on seats and Salfordians really can't be arsed with the club.

I fully understand why he has done it but it doesn't help the marketing when he has announced he has resigned when he has just gone back to the Colonies.

I fully understand why he has done it but it doesn't help the marketing when he has announced he has resigned when he has just gone back to the Colonies. He has done more in a few months than any player in recent times that I have known at Salford to promote the club. He did two videos before he left and I would not be surprised if we see some more. He’s off on hols like the rest of the players what do you want him to do not have a break ?

Probably done it this way so he can have some peace and quiet, let the excitement die down a bit before he comes back. He’s been getting absolutely harassed on social media by fans of all clubs the past few weeks so I think the club timed it perfectly by announcing it whilst he was on the way home.

My point being that if the club/Jackson had managed to find a way to make this announcement when he was over here the resulting media and marketing opportunities would have been hugely beneficial. Obviously he is heading home, deservedly he will sit on beach with his beloved hounds basking in the glory that in a few short weeks he has become a quite remarkable cult hero, the biggest thing on the open market and above all one of us. I've little doubt Jackson next year will become the face of the club, its biggest tub thumper and life blood. This is a new one for me but a fire sale of our other stars aside or the failure to augment his signing and can see a season of stability, growth and many many more bums on seats.

Regarding your last point MR; apparently the club stated their recruitment and retaintion plans to Joey/Jackson which was a major factor in them re-signing. So hopefully it’s all in hand! But the outs vs the ins at the minute is worrying..
