Me. I want to live in Hull. What is it with the attitude on here towards Hull? Everything. From personal experience. Same old Narrow minded parochial attitudes that exist in Large parts of Yorkshire. And Also Casual racism . Witnessed by myself in some cases towards my ex colleagues in the Army when I had the misfortune to Be stationed for six very long months. You can't tie a ribbon around a turd Parochial attitudes exist in large parts of the planet. They are just as prevalent in Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle or London as they are in Hull, Leeds, York or Sheffield. I'm sorry that you experienced it, and the racism, but don't tar the whole place with the same brush because you had bad experiences. The attitude towards Hull smacks of the same casual racism and parochial attitude, so before you start laying into somewhere and accusing it of being narrow minded or racist, look at your own attitude. As the saying goes, two wrongs don't make a right. Out of interest, where were you stationed (and when).

Not just the time in Humberside (Leconfield ) in 1998 and many visits Hull and the small towns and villages in the area especially some of the places that have well known Amateur RL Teams, also there are statistics on line about Reported incidents of Hate crimes RE: Colour nationality that have a higher than average Percentage in Humberside.

Your views are coloured by experiences of 20 years ago. A generation has died since then, and the world has evolved. I'm not local to the area, but have lived and worked here for over a decade, and although there are incidents of racism (and not just casual racism), there is also an ever increasing intolerance to those attitudes. If you go back and re-read the article about hate crime reporting (I'm guessing it was a HDM article), you'll see that it talks about a larger than average increase in reporting, rather than in actual number of incidents. This points towards an increasing intolerance of hatred rather than a more intolerant area. So, does you view make you more narrow minded. Yes, frankly, it does. In the same way that a hatred of Germany now because of Nazi Germany's atrocities would make you narrow minded. Like I said, I'm truly sorry for your experiences 20 years ago, but the city and the area has changed. I realise that I'm not going to convince you, but there we are. I'm going to leave it here because I'm conscious that so far off topic about Ryan Lannon it's untrue.
