And for once not out own fans.
It takes a great deal to annoy or upset me but this for some reason hit a nerve (read between the lines if you will).
I know fans will look for a weakness and go for it and I don't condone Salford's fans encouraging the original chants, but when the Castleford fans reacted with a Pro Jimmy Saville chant and the Castleford mascot egged them on I found that totally abhorrent, I appreciate it might only be a mascot but surely it/he/she has a responsibility to act in an appropriate manner.
Have messaged Castleford about this but there is a deafening silence, wonder if they know this is such a taboo subject locally that the official club representative shouldn't have got involved.

A Pro Jimmy Saville chant? Wow. I must admit I didn't hear that. Any idea what was sung/said? If the mascot was complicit then they need firing. What I did hear were songs from the south stand about Saville and Sutcliffe which were equally as crass and wrong. |

I'll be honest and couldn't say I could make it out but the first time the morons in the Shed (South stand) broke out into a Jimmy Saville song the Cas fans reacted (quite rightly) and the Mascot joined in egging and hand clapping them on.
Just wrong, very very wrong and incredibly inappropriate.
If I'm wrong I'll apologise but I got the feeling they we very much in the pro camp.

There was a few in the South Stand who started with “Jimmy Saville, he’s one of your own”, with some Cas fans at the South end of the East stand responding with “Jimmy Saville, he’s one of our own”. Didn’t see their mascot doing anything though.
A bit distasteful I suppose, but I think it was just a reaction to the “your support is f****** s***” and “you’re supposed to be at home”, so a few thought it’d be good to go for something at the more extreme end of the ‘take the piss out off yorkshire” scale, i.e. Jimmy Saville. Nothing too sinister about it i don’t think.

They said on the radio that when Chamberlain successfully kicked his conversion the scoreboard read “kicked by Todd Carney”. Now that’s embarrassing
