Interesting video with a much more detailed look than has previously been released of the plans for the surrounding area. Didn't know there was going to be a new junction on the M62 (massive help for Widnes, Warrington, St Helens and various other fans), shows pretty much the open secret of where Ikea will be located and seems to show what could possibly be a hotel and some smaller retail units. vimeo.com/170973759

It is still a pain to get there for everyone. The walk to the stadium depresses me every time.

Sorry but it isn't as much of a pain as people say, it's a pain because people just want to complain. Pretty certain if we were top of the league and winning week in week out there would hardly be a murmur.

I do wish they would sort out the pigeon issue under the M60 bridge! That's the worse thing about walking to the ground!!

MR then it must be you who is right then.No one looks forward to that walk to the ground especially if it is raining. I would still complain if we were top of the league. Take your red tinted glasses off for a moment and face facts.

Oh my bad I forgot about the covered walkways heading to the Willows.
Get a bus/taxi to the ground early and have a pint in the new pub, come out have another beer there and order a taxi for a little later when the traffic has passed by.

Are you going to pay for all this for me? We have lost a lot of fans because of the problems getting to the ground.A fancy new road won't solve this.

You are correct the new road won't make it easier for most fans to get to the ground as the road doesn't actually link a heavily populated area, the new motorway link will make it easier for fans from other teams.
I said it for long enough that First should ensure 2 or 3 buses are near the ground at the end of the game, most people would in reality only go as far as Eccles so they could run it as just a link from the stadium to Eccles where onwards travel for pretty much everyone would be easier.

Surely the new road will improve things. Instead of sitting in traffic down Liverpool road in Eccles. You would have the option of coming over Barton bridge. From areas like Weaste you could come over new bridge and through Trafford park. The more alternative routes the better. Although it may be slightly further in distance, I for one would take the new road as opposed to sitting in traffic to get out of the car park.

I agree but don't think the new road will assist with the public transport side of things, think they might put transport on from the Trafford centre to entice fans with families to get some shopping and others to the game. Maybe a new bus route from Cadishead towards Manchester that goes down the new road to the TC then onwards.

Hopefully it will improve the public transport. Admittedly I have not done the trip for sometime having moved backed to Cadishead from Half Edge lane a while ago. If private vehicles were able to use other routes surely the buses could reduce the time it took to make the journey. If you look at the timetable for the 67 at certain times the journey from Salford precinct to the Unicorn can be 15 mins. Clearly this is not on a Friday night. The more traffic that uses alternative routes to Liverpool road though will greatly improve journey times to the stadium..
