I really think it is now patently obvious that Salford simply cannot survive without a wealthy benefactor. There are not many of them and even fewer with an interest in Rugby League.
Despite the efforts of the hard working, well meaning current board(mainly it seems Andy Rosler), the season has been and seemingly will continue to be, a headlong plunge into oblivion.I read all the schemes and ideas for producing more income for the club but the bottom line is that these would be amateur finances for a fully professional club. However good the intent the end product is inevitably not going to be enough.Yes we can continue to sell our top earners and scrape a bit of the cream form the sales to sign a lesser player or two but this is not a solution. When all the top talent has gone and frankly that number is what 2 or 3 then finance and new player signings evaporate and the team slides further down with the crowds.
We are in a situation now where we desperately need signings, its a moot point whether a change in coach is needed, every piece of publicity is negative,we are even closing down the fans bar. What do we cut or sell next?
When Marwen quit he stated he felt his presence was hindering the increase in attendances-I think that myth is well and truly dismissed.People criticised him for the bad publicity he sometimes brought. When he was there Salford were endlessly in the papers(of all types) for all sorts of reasons. Now it usually a small match report about the latest loss or comment on the lack of finances(persistent doom and gloom does not attract5 fans or investors). If you consider the amount of money we have allegedly taken in transfer fees, for 2 players and yet this money has been swallowed in the running of the club, then this is unsustainable. We have possibly 2 more players Lui and Evalds who can command big fees and then the cash cow has gone.
We are back at St. Thomas' Church,Pendleton again in reality.
Representations must be made to Marwen to bring him back.If soon enough he could inject enough to save us in the Middle Eights.I see no other way forward.

For all his faults, Koukash isn't stupid - I think he knew he was flogging a dead horse and got out whilst he could.
For various reasons, the Salford public simply aren't interested in Rugby League, barring a core support of around 1500. That won't change without a period of continued success on the field, which won't happen without decent players, which we can't afford without a wealthy benefactor.
The Championship is probably about the right level for us considering our level of support, but with all the debt apparently hanging over us, our mere existence seems to be in doubt. I think if push came to shove, I'd welcome Marwan back if it meant we could stay in business. Beggars can't be choosers!

Representations must be made to Marwen to bring him back.If soon enough he could inject enough to save us in the Middle Eights.I see no other way forward. I would love to have Marwan back. I personally really enjoyed his period in charge and took the rough with the smooth. I hate to be totally negative or dismissive as god knows there is enough of that on this forum already, but this is an absolute none starter for me. First of all in terms of any kind of movement gathering momentum to petition him to come back, you wouldn't even be able to get a consensus across this forum, never mind the remaining "fanbase". Secondly what possible incentive could we give him to come back? I assume the letter would go something like this. "Dear Uncle Marwan, Please can you give us some more free money as we are deep in the ****. I know that you suffered dogs abuse when you were here, and even if you did come back and save us, and signed half the NSW Origin squad it would still be seen as a minor gesture, and due to your underhand way of doing things a bad thing for the club that served your own agenda. But anyway ignore all that, it will be great this time, and we will definitely all be your best mate. Yours sincerely, Around half of all Salford Fans (Depending on the result of the last game mind you)." Forgive my sarcasm but do we honestly think that it could happen, and do we think even now as we stare into the abyss that there wouldn't be some who would walk away simply because of his return. Can we really afford to dilute the remaining support we have any further? Sadly for me we have to accept our situation, we will either survive this season and stay in existence, or we wont and will be gone forever. Nobody is coming to save us.

He's not interested. That's why he left. Unless we drop Salford for MCR.
We finished bottom half every year under his ownership. We finally managed a decent season and he walked as the fans still didn't turn up.
We contiually lost our best young players under Marwan (Sneyd,Fages, the entire academy) meaning we now have only 17 fit players for Friday's game.
He did save the club though and I'm grateful for this however the main reason we are doomed is because we're a top flight club attracting under 2k home fans. Still people don't grasp this, and scream 'BRING BACK MARWAN' simply because it's the easy option.
If we somehow manage to stumble through this season fans could easily raise enough to make the club a success with the right organisation but most people want someone else to take all the risks, as it's all we've ever known.

TBF many didn't want him to go, me personally I was more than 50% for him staying it was just occasionally you screamed for him to pull his neck in.
Had an interesting conversation with a friend earlier who said there are rumours on antisocial media that there has been interest from a middle eastern consortium to invest in the club and it has been turned down.
TURNED DOWN!
Bill Gates, Elon Musk and Roman Oligarkski must all be jostling for the right to buy option in the background.

Course it's true. For example 1000 people x £5 week = £260k. And that's just to start with.
All it requires is enough people interested and some organisation. Sadly we've got neither.

It must be April fools or people are off there heads on crack Get the impression you're not putting ole Marwan on the Christmas card list?
It's never going to happen anyway so I'd not get my knickers in a twist, he made mistakes and we as fans made mistakes the way we treated him, lessons for all concerned.
I personally doubt there is any new group, consortium, insane individual with a burning desire to take big handfuls of cash into pots of fresh air.

Rugby league in general is not sustainable, not enough Salford people are interested in the club, we have continued to punch above are weight. SRFC level is Championship.

It doesn't matter who we get/who returns. RL is dying in the Manchester/Salford region. There's little interest (the MEN, afaik hasn't had one article on Salford RLFC all week so far). (I take note of what Rangers are doing but feel they'll never be no more than a Championship side at best). We get less fans than Huddersfield. Like most RL clubs, we have an ageing set of supporters with fewer youngsters than we would like. Mention Rugby League and it's always what someone's mate's dad watches. (Cue the book , Perry Boys). Then we have the Salford financial situation inherited from the move and from several years of not meeting our budget. We're asking a business person to start with no way of making a profit for a long time.
These issues are too much for an injection of cash: they'd take many years to solve.
I'll still be there on Friday night.

I remember walking to the friendly against Swinton shortly before Marwan appeared on the scene and I genuinely thought it could be the last time I saw Salford play. It was incredibly emotional. Whatever his mistakes, he kept the show on the road for another 5 years, and anything is better than the certain oblivion we'd have faced without him. It's a tough gig being a salford fan, and I'm grateful we still have a club to worry about. I'm also grateful that despite having no reason to do so, other than the goodness of his heart, he's shelling out for a couple of players to give us a chance at staying up. Cheers Dr K.

He's a supporter. He kept us going for 5 years and he made mistakes, which he admitted....and it cost him £5M .......so we're all different, we all do things in different ways.
He's delivered yet again, so let the past lie and welcome him as a supporter who has the Clubs best interest at heart. And get off his case...forgiveness is a virtue.

Can't wait to see a bumper crowd tomorrow to thank Marwan. No football so no excuses really, although I believe it clashes with something called Love Island?
