There's also talk on Antisocial media that some SL chairmen are thinking of vetoing their progress into the top flight.
Now that would kill any future investment in expansion teams.

If so, they need to make that decision now. What happens if they were to finish in the top three but were denied promotion? 5th vs. 6th for the Million Pound Game?

I agree but entry to Super League is by invitation. That the SL chairpersons have agreed it to be through the mid-8 procedure can be changed at a stroke. It was agreed. The insularity of some clubs (particularly in Australia) is a matter of record. Are the club chairpersons willing to upset non-SL clubs? I think some would.

Our best hope is that we get Widnes, Toronto and Toulouse at the AJ Bell, if Leigh dont make it to the 8's then we could have away games at Featherstone and London or Halifax. No disrespect to those teams but with a few bodies back from injury and a couple of new faces then can see us potentially getting to golden 8 points required for survival. Definitely do not want the £1m game vs an expansion team as the cynic in me says there will be several 'ropey' decisions going against us. Sorry dr, but I think your calculation is a bit iffy. 8 points will probably see us in the mpg, albeit at home. That is not 'survival'. A rough calculation, ignoring draws, gives one team winning 7, one winning 6, etc. This leaves one team on 14, one on 12, one on 10, one on 8, one on 6, one on 4, one on 2 and one on 0. That leaves the teams on 8 and 6 in the mpg. I know lots of permutations are possible, but as a first estimate, it works. 8 points means mpg, not safety.

In the three years of The Qualifiers, 8pts has only been enough for the MPG. In all 3 previous seasons 3rd place (safety) have finished with 10pts so it's highly likely we'll need 5 wins from our 7 games.

Afraid to say I think our time in super league is up, hope I’m proced wrong but the championship teams are very strong whoever makes it in, plus they have a winning mentality behind them where as we are coming off the back of a hell of a lot of losses and injuries to key men

Think if we are to get anywhere in the 8's we've got to put up a decent show against Leeds and then get a weaker team at home first game up to build momentum, Hastings is going to be pivotal along with a healthy return for Evalds.

Leeds will need to win the game against us for a chance of a top 8 spot, so I expect them to come all guns blazing. Can't see us winning that. We need to hope that we don't get any more injuries, and some players come back who are fully fit.

Do wonder if players who are 40%+ fit are being kept back in preparation for the middle 8's. Dont see the point in attempting to rush anyone back in for frankly 2 dead rubber games vs Catalans and Leeds. If we get 70% of our 1st team back for the championship teams we should have too much.
Also a bonus would be Featherstone and Leeds being in the qualifiers as Leeds would certainly recall any loan or dual reg players if they are now rivals. A shame for them but would certainly weaken Featherstone considerably.

Taking away players who have helped Fev get in that position, I don’t blame Leeds for a minute, I’d hope we’d do the same but it’s not really fair. It works in Aus due to the fact the feeder teams don’t pose a risk to the NRL teams top flight status.

Sorry but Toronto shouldn't get any dispensation in the middle 8's, they choice to play in a league located on a different continent. If they have games formatted that way everyone else much have the same, easier to build momentum with 2 homes games lumped together. If Toronto get into the MPG At home they'd expect to play it in Toronto. Unless the RFL decide to play it in the Azores islands ?

Toronto should be on a level footing,no more no less. No special treatment re banking 2 fixtures together. Problem is that some opposing teams won’t be at full strength due to visa issues. Not sure how you square that

Our fixtures are: Toronto, Toulouse and Widnes at home.
London, Halifax, Leeds and HKR away.
Not too bad that. Widnes and HKR have to play both Toronto and Toulouse away.

could be to our advantage if we play them after they have travelled. but the rfl will see to it that leeds will play both teams when they have travelled away
