There’s room for all opinions here and also opportunity to change your opinion. I didn’t like Koukash and always felt it was a ride we should enjoy,it probably lasted longer than I thought it would. Short memories, yes, think about the meeting in the Church and how we needed another benefactor. I’d prefer someone like Moran to Koukash, obviously , but I prefer Koukash to oblivion. This comment about leaving the club £5 million in debt is totally misleading. The debt is owing to him and he won’t be able to collect. The £5 million kept us entertained for 5 years. I respect Prestwich Reds desire for a more mainstream owner ,someone without baggage, but that’s not the way professional sport works. I,for one, would like him to return because I don’t care for the alternative.

I would say it's highly unlikely he lost £5m despite what the accounts say. He also decided that the only way to make the club viable would be to change the name to MCR.
Sadly our fans have proved him right in this by continually finding any excuse not to attend games whilst kicking off on social media on a regular basis.
He also ditched the academy to save £100k meaning we have had no players to call on from within when the inevitable injuries occur.
He's not coming back whilst we are still called Salford and we've no longer got a benefactor so unless the fans stop expecting everything for nothing the future will indeed be bleak.

Correct. The accounts must be wrong. The auditors must be wrong. .

Correct. The accounts must be wrong. The auditors must be wrong. . Indeed. I love it when folk say things like "it's highly unlikely" and "can't see how..." when the audited accounts are there for all to see. I have been told by a director of another club not a million miles away who is personal friends with Marwan that he was putting c. £60000 a MONTH into the club to keep it running. Not including any other financing that he did. But he's a ****** isn't he? The mind boggles.

I don’t usually comment on the MK discussions as it seems to be a very personal issue for a lot of people but.....I think the reality is somewhere in between MK is the Devil and MK is the messiah.
The club was on its arse when he took over - it’s even more on it’s arse now he’s gone. There were some good times in between as well as some bad times. He spent a lot of his own money but wasted a lot with ridiculous decisions. There is good and bad but at the end of the day he kept the club going longer than it would have without him.
His antics put me off coming to games for a few years but I didn’t ‘hate’ him as it was his money and you could see he was giving it a good go.
I don’t particularly want him, and the circus that goes with him, back but it would be infinitely better than the death of the club. Unless Jeff Bezos suddenly becomes a Salford fan the options are limited.

He put all these millions in but failed to pay creditors measly amounts in comparison resulting in what were surely avoidable CCJs etc, whilst also recieving £1.7m per year from sky tv. We never paid any stadium rent while he was in charge, and the first year it was due to be paid he stepped down.
I'm grateful for him taking over the club when he did and have even stuck up for him at times but I find the £5m figure dubious. Apologies if it doesn't tow the party line.

I was told by a senior manager from the catering side last week that the club had a visit from a TV program with foot in the door types in toe, only to be told they had no registered assets in situ.

Rugby league in general is not sustainable. Ultimately MK provided a stay of execution, initially I got carried away in the ride but soon learnt I could not trust the guy. I said it before the fans will ultimately decide the clubs future. Clearly I see the future not in super league, we don't have enough fans who care enough. As a tax payer the council are caught between an rock & hard plate, they cannot allow SRD to go under but equally cannot be seen to be investing more money to keep there investment alive. When MK came to the club he promised he was going to build hotels, buy the stadium ultimately he was full of bull ****. I for one would end a 50 year association with the club if he was coming back, its all about opinions.

Just so we understand. You’d rather play in a lower division with part time players than come to watch if Koukash came back ? I don’t think he will, anyway, but just so we know what we’re dealing with here

A strange question considering that we were seconds away from relegation under his tenure (thanks to a salary cap breach). However I'd much rather watch a Salford side in a lower division than a Koukash owned MCR in the top flight.
The only reason people are desperate for him to return is because it's the easy option meaning as fans they can go back to doing as little as possible for the club whilst still proclaiming themselves as massive Salford fans to anyone that will listen.
I've said it on here before but we don't deserve a benefactor. We've got the worst fans in the top flight. When a bit of support for the club is needed either financially or on the terraces a decent percentage of our fans go AWOL. We'll all be sorry when it's gone.

We will be even more sorry if it’s gone because we were picky about which benefactor’s money we are prepared to accept

I'm not sure that it's sailed in his eyes but I suppose that's for another time.
If he was to return in the future I would still attend games (whilst we remain as Salford).
However last time around was an unmitigated disaster so I wouldn't be too excited by it.

I don’t think he will, anyway, but just so we know what we’re dealing with here Of course I would rather play at the highest level but given a choice between a guy who interests will always be about him & not about the club. As a supporter I would rather the club survive at a lower level. I say it again it is the people of Salford who will determine the clubs future, it looks real bleak from where I view it.
