I'll look back with fond memories to the 60's 70's & 80's, when despite a lack of success we always competed and had the odd fantastic result. The game has changed (for the worse as far as I am concerned), and we obviously can't compete. What a sad, sad end

Have I missed something? Has the season ended? Did we lose the million pound game? Did we even get there? We’re in a pretty **** situation but I can’t believe the amount of people who I’ve seen/heard give up, or threaten to stop going. While we still have a breath of life we should keep fighting. Something needs to change urgently, but we need to get behind the team not give up.

As stated in the other thread it's gonna be a 7 game race to stay up whatever happens in the remaining league games. Let's hope we're up to it.

Guy's..... I think you miss the crux of my post. I still love RL, I still and always will love Salford RLFC, but I think our time is done. I have fabulous memories of Lancs Finals, CC Semis, great players & great games ..... but it's all become too much to witness. Good Luck to all who continue to follow (I did my share and enjoyed it thoroughly), but it's not the game it was and our club is disappearing slowly but surely

NEVER GIVE UP! to paraphrase Bill Hicks, Salford are an amusement ride. U pay the fair u ride the ride, enjoy the ups and down. But remember it’s just a ride!

I'd love for us to have a turn in fortunes, but we're on a slippy slope and gaining momentum. For me, it's just a question of how long the slide is...

What I have to ask is why the public of Salford should care when the players seem not to.
Watson simply can't be in charge come Thursday if the club have have any remote ambition of either avoiding the middles or relegation.
There needs to be an attacking spark added to the squad rather than playing JLJ and Shorrocks, both who have had their chance and proved they are not going to be SL quality players for Salford.

So we can expect the exact same group of players come Thursday to start playing for him, they seem to not be doing right now.
There can't be any sentiment for Watson right now as frankly the club is bigger than City loyalty, can't say he has lost the dressing room but there without question seems to be an issue within the playing structure.

37 nil down to a team at half strength means there is something wrong. What IW has done is amazing and I have backed him when a majority hasn’t but we need change. Not a new manager which we can’t afford but a slight change in staff. What have we got to lose as at present bottom two and oblivion awaits.

Our very existence.

The problem is the club have made it clear that all the big earners will be either sold now or off at the end of the season and we’ve just shipped out the captain. A feeling of ‘nobody is safe’ does nothing for morale. Unless something major happens money wise I can’t see this team regaining the fight from earlier in the season regardless of who is in charge.

If you know you are going to be sold wouldn’t you put yourself in the shop window and put in a performance ? Who would buy anyone from this team on present form ? As for the high earners who put them on these big contracts and then buggered off.

As for the high earners who put them on these big contracts and then buggered off. They were on reasonable contracts under the circumstances at the time. Now that we are poor the contracts that were fine under a different regime are no longer so. Blaming the former owner for something that was no problem in the recent past because we have nobody with cash in charge right now is an interesting version of events.
Players don't play better under stress for any length of time for the obvious reasons...
Stress.
It's called that for a reason!
If your argument held water then teams in utter peril at the foot of the SL with survival to play for, would be world beaters every week. Stress is individual. Players don't perform under stress for any length of time because it's impossible to do so. Not knowing your future from week to week tends not to bring the best out in players, funnily enough. Not quite sure what your point is here...?
