Taken at face value that statement sounds completely reasonable.
The club were approached by another club about the availability of a player completely unsolicited, were told he wasn't available and that we had no wish nor requirement to sell.
The player made the decision he would like to go, and that being the case we asked for a specified fee which was met with a view to finding suitable replacements.
If this was any other club in Rugby League would there honestly have been all the histrionics of the fan base that there has been over the last 20 hours or so??
It seems to me also, that the other names being Touted around for sale are in positions where we are well resourced, and it would make sense that we would try and make space in order to strengthen the back line where there is little depth. Assuming this is the logic behind it again this would seem perfectly reasonable.
I understand being a little nervous about the clubs financial position at the moment, but those of you who today basically gave up being fans of the club based on assumption and rumor really need to take along look at yourselves.
None of us know what the future will hold, whether any further players will be sold and ultimately what the reasons for those sales might be but according to the board any sales wont be due to simply keeping the lights on.
That being the case it might be better in future, to wait a couple of days to get a full picture before shitting our pants and abandoning the club forever.

The proof of this pudding will be in our positive action in the transfer market. I look forward to seeing it happen! For now, I'm happy to give the new board the benefit of the doubt. After all, it's not their fault that we lost a certain amount of trust in previous managements. If they keep their word here, I'll be happy to trust them again in the future. It feels like a big test for the new board and their relationship with the fans.

Most people have neither **** their pants or abandoned the club. They’ve called for a statement which has happened. As regards the strength of feeling, there’s an acceptance that the Club is doing it’s best in difficult circumstances. You can’t admonish people for fearing the worst after BMM and GOB. That comes from a position of loving the club and, yes, other clubs social media accounts would also have been buzzing.
cant understand why shitting got past the auto censor but **** didn’t ! Love it !

I would imagine that the new board naively thought the crowds would improve with Koukash gone but now this hasn't happened they are having to make cut backs. 3500 home fans for the season opener is quite poor but to then lose another 1000 for the next home game is pretty shameful really. Gate receipts are our main source of income now. If people choose not to turn up then fair enough but it's only going to go one way. We don't get crowds because of the Willows... We don't get crowds because the new ground is miles away and soulless... We don't get crowds because we need an owner with money... We don't get crowds because nobody likes the owner... We don't get crowds because one swallow doesn't make a summer... We don't get get crowds because we have no connection with the fans... In reality, once you strip away all these and other excuses, we don't have any fans because we simply don't have the interest or drive in Salford. If we don't have fans, we wont survive as a club. That's where we are now. If the board thought that change would bring the change in fortune they're as naive as Wilky and Koukash ever was.

I don't disagree Carnster because I can't.But apart from about 5 clubs the crowds are not very good for the rest.I still think if Dr Koucash had started out like last season I still think crowds would have increased that's in the past now I know I often wonder what would happen if the owner left Hudds. But as I say I can't disagree with you.

I’ve never known such a negative bunch of fans in my life. Notice that any positive content the club put out on social media gets about 3 likes and zero comments, but as soon as anything remotely negative gets announced suddenly there’s hundreds of comments “this is the end!” “That’s it for me!” “Season ticket is going in the bin”.

A conversation I had with someone at the gym tonight who is a Salford lad but doesn't go but knows I support Salford sums what you've just said perfectly. He said something along the lines of. "Well you've sold another of your best players, no wonder no ****** wants to go watch them" QED, might not be entirely accurate but the perception is there for all to see.

It always amazes me the number of people who know a number of ex fans or potential fans who would go if only the world were perfect.
Watch from afar Carnster et al, there is a ride and it's not always flat and perfect as you would like it but it's a ride. That's sport and you either like the ups and downs of sport or you sit in an armchair talking about how you would like it if only....
The Board I'm sure didn't think change would make any difference BUT like MK before them, if some people hadn't put their hands up and taken over the Club voluntarily without pay and at great expense to themselves then there would have been no Club. The change was forced on the Club and a few people are trying to find a way how to make it happen.
Perhaps some of the critics might like to stand up and help them, but that would take effort not constant criticism, easyfrom an armchair with a phone or a pad.

Couldn't agree more.Best to keep out of the pub or the gym.We will have a team out on Friday sure as night follows day.Obrien wanted to go.We got money for him we might get a better deal.

People that go to games will tell anyone who will listen how bad things are on a regular basis, then wonder why there's little or no interest from the wider public. There's nothing to lose now this season. The apocalypse has been predicted by our fans, so even surviving the season can now be seen as a success. Bring it on.
