"how long is reasonable to wait before something has to change ?"
do you mean supporters cavilling and criticising because they remember when we were great and are upset we aren't any more? Well, it's been over 48 years of this so I do not expect any change soon.

Anyway, back to Matty Smith. No. Never. Too slow and way past his best.
Give Littlejohn time to settle in.

Think JLJ will Come good, what worries me is that the damage might have been done already.

Need a good win or two for the confidence factor, when we lost all the games on the bounce last season they all looked like rabbits in the headlights, get like that to early in the season and we might struggle to get the extra home game in the 8's. Fingers crossed for a good run soon.

You're right we need to win a couple to boost confidence but we play; Cas away, where we never win Hull at home, who are one of the top sides this year so don't expect much out of that A rejuvenated Widnes away, it is winnable but they're in great form Then Catalan at home which is must win It doesn't get much easier after that, wins are gonna come in fits and starts but I think we'll be OK (gulp)

I believe we can get something from the Cas and Hull games, but we must be targeting the Widnes and Catalans games.
Re Smith being “past it and too slow” - Dobbo had minimal pace but could control a game with his kicking, talking and lead us around the park. Exactly what we’re missing. Plus Smith is a reliable goal kicker. Hopefully Littlejohn will grow into the role and be able to lead us but is he even that sort of player?

how long is reasonable to wait before something has to change ? In terms of Watson getting the boot? No one in their right mind would want Watto out, he is doing the best with what he has in front of him. Win our home games against those around us and we'll be fine, throwing the odd away win in. Might not be top 8 but I fancy us to stay in the top flight Nobody is saying Watson should be replaced. But their is a school of thought that says even with this squad somebody might do better. If we keep loosing games it's inevitable someone else would be given the chance.

It all comes down to money and I don't think we have any. If we can afford MS on loan, we should go for him. If nothing else he will provide options - say we are looking for dg and only have GOB, it's fairly easy to stop us. With the option of MS, it's not so easy. And that applies to many other situations.
All wishful thinking. We are skint and Watto is doing his best to make a silk purse out of a pig's ear. Good luck to him.

God we're a bunch of miserable ****s on here at times! Couple of stats for you: Look at the first four games this season and then look at the same four games (not the first four, but Wigan at home, Saints away etc). Swap Leigh for Hull KR (comparative places in the table). Last season, from these four games, we scored 2 points (i.e. we beat Leigh at home). This season, we have 2 points Last season, we scored 74 points in these 4 games. This season, we have scored 62 Last season, we had conceded 81 points. This season we have conceded 100 points. What does this tell us. It doesn't tell us that we're doomed (so sit down Private Fraser). It tells us that we aren't quite as strong as we were last year (but we have lost Dobbo and BMM and are trying to bed a new world in behind the scenes). We aren't as bad as we think we are. Enough with those negative waves Moriarty! i agree with most of your conclusions but that points difference is significant -7 last -38 this year. Points conceded is a much bigger indicator of where you finish than points scored. We’ve conceded the joint most points so far (including the 2 teams who’ve played a game more). That’s what we really need to fix

I rate Matty Smith and would have happily kept him back in the day. I’m struggling to see what he’d offer us now. As others have said he’d take as long to settle in as JLJ
