It's true though!
Hopefully it's a sign of honest and frequent interaction with fans. I thought it quite refreshing that the article seemed like an honest conversation rather than what we've had in the past 'the product's fantastic, turn up in droves or I walk'!

Yep the products not good enough best dress it up with something far more attractive!
Yes, that's ever so much better than what went before!
We are frank and open but we haven't got much to offer .... big improvement!
And it's not the strategy here that bothers me but the attitude the statement represents .... Though I admit getting RL fans and SRD ones in particular to believe in RL rather than the dressing is an uphill struggle.

Am I missing something here as all I see is a grainy old photo of the Lions?

"Am I missing something here ..."
Yes MR you are missing something in this instance.
The quote is from Chairman's Corner
and the old grainy sepia is a reminder of what a great game we have and always have had!

I think maybe you need to post a link or something as the whole thread seems a little baffling otherwise.

This is getting increasingly surreal I often don’t understand Russ’s posts and references (and I’ve no idea what this is about) but the theme is generally pro-Koukash and against anything else. Truth is Koukash stopped the club disappearing and spent a fortune of his own money trying to make us competitive. Once we became competitive he walked away. With the investment came a lack of understanding about the game, the fan base and the culture of the club. Swings and roundabouts. Wilkinson had all the understanding but ran out of cash. Koukash had the money but did things very differently which man5 didn’t like. But he kept the club alive. As 1andyr says above there was a significant part of ‘ive spent money people better turn up’ to Koukash. The thinking was always seemed short term. The changes being brought in by the new team will take a long time to see many results. I hope they have time to deliver. Ironically the foundation engaged with community RL clubs way better under Koukash than under Wilky and some of the links with schools we’re building well. But he never talked about any of that really so many people were unaware It feels like some people want the new regime to fail to prove how much we needed marwan in the way that others wanted us to fail to prove we didn’t need marwan. Can’t we just all want us to do well?

Thanks for the link - makes sense now.
I don’t think the article is well worded but I think what he is getting at is correct. Its all well and good the fans banging the drum about how good rugby league is (and it is), but in isolation that isn’t going to bring any new fans in (especially younger ones). I’ve brought many friends to games over the years and every one of them enjoyed it but not one of them got wrapped up enough in it to attend regularly.
The rise of social media means that people under a certain age can only concentrate on one thing for 30 seconds at a time (mass generalisation but you get my point). So I think the approach of making it an ‘event’ with multiple things going on makes sense. Fostering a community spirit at the same time also makes sense to appease the older fans.
On another thread someone mentioned the idea of a tail gate event before each game - while red tape would make this difficult it definitely seems like it would fit in with what was said in the article.
I couldn’t tell you if any of this will work but at least they are giving it a go. Lets give them our support rather than bashing them for a poorly worded line in an article.

Personally, I don't think it is badly worded. Just an honest assessment, get as many here as possible because only a percentage will want to come back.

I wouldn’t say rugby league is not everyone’s ‘proverbial cup of tea’ when anyone who watches it sings its praises. It does sound a bit defeatist to word it that way. Its more the presentation than the product in my opinion.

Sorry I assumed you'd all be regulars on the website ..... silly me!
"It does sound a bit defeatist to word it that way."
Exactlty .... it smacks of RL is just not enough we need some sugar to take with the medicine. I don't believe he intended this message for one second but whoever edits the articles needs to take a look at themselves.
Please don't respond by attacking Marwan because he's been mentioned but if he' said this ...... well you get the picture!
Either you believe in the sport or you don't, so be careful how you phrase what you say.

What, not even a chairman believing in the sport he is invested in, in time effort, workload, and emotion? What, not even fans, particularly the anti MK lobby, not reading our new chairman's thoughts on what's happening at the club? We need to connect to the community but what we're selling isn't good enough to make people turn up!!!!!!!!!
