" .....but the Castleford coach, Daryl Powell, has decided against taking a role with the national side for now." Magic, step aside Daryl and let Ian Watson in please. I would love IW to be a second to Bennet. And not only that I thought the forum could do with something new to talk about!

Why not? A very good young British coach who has already proven that when he is paired with somewhat of a master (Sheens) he listens and improves.

Technically not. Doesn't stop the current England coach not being English. Think this is a moot topic anyway as can only see Denis (I'm brilliant me) Betts getting the gig, would be disastrous for us as Widnes would end up with someone competent in charge.

Even if he only got 2-3 Bennet ideas it's a win.

If we lose to KR that’ll be 13 loses from the last 14 games....surely anyone else with that track record would’ve been shown the door, would they not? Yet we’re talking about national coaching set up crazy!

Yet we’re talking about national coaching set up crazy! Agree on that score. However would like to see young English coaches whether it's IW, Chris Chester etc be given a chance to get involved in the national set up. Surely they would only benefit from the experience even as an understudy.

But would he benefit from being in tandem with the Bennet?
